New Map: The Quest of Sir Markus

Unread postby Angelspit » 06 Jun 2006, 01:34

<a href="/https://www.celestialheavens.com/images/mapscreens/Sir Markus.jpg"><img src="/https://www.celestialheavens.com/images/mapscreens/Sir Markus_sm.jpg" align=right vspace=10 hspace=10></a>Straight from the map editor of Prism comes <a href="/https://www.celestialheavens.com/downlo ... d=575">The Quest of Sir Markus</a>, an extra-large single-player map for H3: The Restoration of Erathia. <i>"You are the Heir to a kingdom and must prove your worthiness with a royal and lengthy quest."</i> The mapmaker recommends that you search each area extensively for any secret. The quest won't be easy, so you will need all stat improvements and creatures you can find.

A Heroes III map gets released more than seven years after the release of its game, while Heroes V is still in the new releases at your local store. I guess it shows the marvels that a good map editor can do to the lifespan of a game. Ubisoft, I hope you are taking notes!

"search each area extensively"

which you would only be able to do in a 2D game... if you want to make a 3D map with well-hidden items, prepare the player to be straining his/her camera-rotating muscels....

Oh right, there's absolutely nothing hidden in a prince of persia game or a tomb raider game.

I absolutely agree that 2d works better for the adventure map portion of the game. I like the 3d in combat.

Furthermore, it took me some time to get used to how things looked in H IV and it took me some time to get used to how things look in H V. But I am used to it now and I never miss anything.

Holy crap, DL complained about a thread going off topic instead of causing it. ;)

Seriously though, it's refreshing to see new Heroes 3 maps this long after the game came out. Keep 'em coming!

Yes, please, keep them coming, since I can't play H5 until I can afford to upgrade my computer!

I think it shows the marvels of what a good game can do for the lifespan of a game.

This game will probably outlive HV,and HVI as well(if it ever comes out and is similar to HV).

Heroes III is just one of those games that will never go away and I'm glad to see that. I have been turning people on to H3 where I work. It's the first time they have ever seen a Heres game and they are just awe inspired by what the game does. And these are serious games that are just learning Heroes for the first time.

I say "Kudos" to the vintage map-makers....

It might Be a pain in the ass, but that's the point.

Heroes 3 is one of the defining TBS games for me, mainly because it has so many towns and tactics to use.

But I'll have to give this map a try when I get home later

Thanks guys for all the compliments. H3 is one of my favorite games, I always some how end up reverting back to it after time. This is my first map hope and it took me quite some time to fully complete, it’s certainly a challenge and I hope you all enjoy playing.
