OK I made a creature artifact. Now what?

Unread postby Caradoc » 02 Jun 2006, 05:29

I'm playing Wizards for the first time and I just made a creature artifact. So how do I get a creature to equip it? It's just sitting there.

I forget EXACTLY how... been awhile since I used the Wizards... but you gotta drag that artifact on to some creatures to use it.

Should be in one of the caslte menu screens (on the left wheel)... an option to equip it, then it shows you what monsters you can throw it on... one artifact per stack I think.

To the left of the creation screen, there are some tabs- one for forging, one for equipping, and one for destroying in order to get the resources back.

Do as Gaidal Cain said - switch to the other pages. Then just drag them over to the creature You want.
Each creature can have only one euqipped at all times, but later on - as Your artificier skill improves, You can create better and better artifacts...

they give "artifact ability" to the creature stack, permanently.

well, you have many options to create an artifact. You can add morale, luck, magic resistance, attack, defense, health, speed, initiative, and "minus def on hit", and maybe a couple of others i have skipped.
with each level of your main skill (from 1 to 3) you can create artifacts with an additional boost (so 1 with Basic and 3 with Expert). They cost ressources (cost is halved if you have Ultimate Artificer). You can then equip the artifacts on creatures (max 1 artifact) and they get the boosts. The magnitude of the boost is determined by your level i believe. For example, you could create an artifact that raises Speed and Initiative of your golems, and health, initiative, and defense on your gremlins, if you were at least Expert Artificer and had the required resources.

To rehash,

There are three tabs:

Create
Equip
Dismantle

Also, on the creation screen after you choose the properties you want (morale, luck, defense etc.) you have to use the buy button on the lower right hand wheel to 'create' the artifact. Took me a little bit to figure that out.

I built up some sweet artifacts with my expert artificer! Didn't help me against sylvan though :(

You will find that the creature artifacts are most effective with low level creatures, for example Gremlins.

This Artificer thing still confuses me a bit.

Why exactly can you make different types of artifacts that do the same thing? I mean, you can make an amulet, a badge, an orb, and a trinket, but they all do the same thing.

What's the difference if I made an amulet that gives +6 attack vs an orb that gives +6 attack?

They look different of course.

I was thinking maybe you could equip your hero with them, thus the explanation for the different equipement parts. Then again, I never made an artifact so all I know is based on theory I read.

It wouldn't be that one stack can only have one amulet, one orb, etc? Haven't tested it but that seemed the logical explanation which probably means that it isn't that way at all...

I wonder why didnt they use banners like in WoG.It seems weird that one amulet raises the stats of thousands of imps.

nah, i think it's purely cosmetic... you can give only one artifact to a stack, no matter what form they are.

Well that's pretty dumb then. If you could actually see it equipped on your units, then maybe it would be cool to have a choice of what to make, but since you can't it's a huge waste of time.

you can see what artifacts are equipped, but not the graphics, true. That's why i'm not sure it's only cosmetic, if it is, it looks like a terrible waste of time ^^
