Limited vs Regular

Unread postby JessieLC » 26 May 2006, 14:57

We got our Limited Edition, opened the box and all that came out was another DVD box?????? I was under the impression that we were supposed to get a Hard Map along with it? There was no nice Faction/Skills card like in the past . Included are 3 DVD's.........the Game DVD, Heroes III/IV DVD, and a Bonus DVD with Soundtrack, Illustrations,Exclusive Artwork,Screens. On looking at the Bonus DVD...you get all the previously released Trailers, the Music with pictures of the different Factions Creatures, the Gallery consists of Artwork and Screenshots, Extras are trailers for upcoming Games- King Kong, King Kong Movie Trailer, Myst 5, the Heritage of Settlers. This is all well and good but does nothing to help with Gameplay. Oh and I forgot a Manual that only gives brief instructions, and 3 pages of Game Controls.

This would be worth it in my estimation if it had a printable Map of Ashlan, printable Skills Card with Game Controls. The Artwok and DVDs are nice but not worth the extra $10.00 in my book. :(

Originally, I preordered the Limited Edition but then after learning that there wasn't a map or creature stat card (& I already have Heroes III & IV with all the expansions) I changed my order to Regular Edition … and boy am I glad I did! People in the USA, who ordered the LE are still waiting for their game to be delivered. I got my Regular Edition a day earlier than I expected.

I did find one other tiny thing about the Limited Edtion. When you check the Game options ther is a "Special Heroes Trail" available to the Limited Edtion Players...........

I'm living in Europe, so my choice was between Collectors Edition and Regular. Ordered the regular edition yesterday, because the extra stuff just wasn't worth the higher price.

I got the collectors edtion and I think the extra stuff was worth the price (+£5 only)

I got a stats card (however it doesn't include special abilities), I like the map (although it isn't glossy) and the artbook was pretty nice. Getting a working Heroes 2 with it is great as well.

I don't know why they thought anyone would want heroes 3/4 with heroes 5 though...

It's for show. The creature stat card is somehwat helpful though, and the three extra maps won't be a bad thing. The only thing I would really have bought it for was H2 though.

I was going to get one of the special editions (I think limited, but with all the different versions around I'm not certain. 8|

Anyway, once I found out that Heroes 4 didn't have any expansions with it, I decided that I would get the regular edition (and so I didn't bother with a preorder).

Then a week before release I received a copy of the regular edition from Fabrice, so if there was any doubt in my mind, that clinched it.

If a true "H4 complete" gets released in the US, then I will pick that up, since I would still like to play H4 (I really hate relying on others' comments when comparing heroes versions- I always have to preface my comments with 'I haven't played H4, so won't/can't comment on this...")

Of course, at the rate I am going with H5 (roughly 1 scenario per day average), by the time I get through the campaigns and scenarios, the map editor should be out, and then reviews will start up again! As with all previous user maps, I will review every map I play. (and post them to the comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.strategic usenet newsgroup as well as submitting them here)

I can't believe that they haven't released Heroes IV Complete in the US.
Its been in stores for half a year over here, and is pretty cheap by now (around USD 15).

I got the Delux Edition, as it was called here in sweden. The extra material was of course not worth it, I already have 3 other copies of Heroes 2, ok, it's nice to have another. The thing that made it worth it, was the casing, much better and nicer than the refular edition and I'm working so I can afford the extra $8 or what is was.

I've got the limited collectors edition, the one with only 4000 made. It only cost me about 60 euro's, so 10 more than regular.

However, i still don't getwhat the Aura is, some say it's a hero, the box says "in-game visual artifact" doesn't help much either.

I guess it's something only in one of the 3 extra single player maps, but then again, how can i tell wich ones are the extra ones.

can anyone give me the 6 single scenariomap names so i can check?
Or has someone found aura yet?

Go into Options/Game. There should be a clickable icon that says something like: "Unique Hero Trail". It's there for all versions but greyed out in the Regular ones. You should be able to click it.

Note to Americans:

You'll NEVER see the creature stat card.

Ubi must not like Americans... even the LE version does not include it!

Yeah... I saw that stuff before, but blew it off because I knew I was getting the US Limited Edition, so why care? Thanks for reposting the link.

I'm beginning to wonder now why I purchase games again if they don't bother to give you anything more then the game itself? The "manual" was little more then a pamphlet and 298-million Americans just got screwed-out of getting a creature card, as they have all been accustomed to from Heroes-1 to Heroes-4. The French made sure they covered their fellow Europeans with a creature card, but completely hosed over every American. Way to bond with your cousins across the pond!

The game is great... but dang, you think they could toss-in a cardboard creature card for the $60 bucks I spent on the Limited Edition! Exactly what business marketting school did Fabrice go to that says "anger 298-million potential customers by not offering them what you gave the Europeans for the same game".

For my fellow Americans, make sure you disable "JavaScript" before copying the pics linked above this post. It's the only way we Americans will EVER see the creature card, even if we shelled-out $60 bucks for the LE.

Its not fabrice that decides which package goes where, its the ubisoft marketing department.

Well, whatever... 298 million potential customers just got HOSED.

How's that for marketing sense?
