Look, how many times do I have to repeat myself? This is the ARCHER evolution, not CROSSBOWMAN evolution! There is a creature called CROSSBOWMAN in heroes universe, and it is present in parts 3,4 and 5.And it has different abbilities than the ARCHER.It shoots twice in HIII,it has no range penalty in HIV,and it has close shot in HV.So I think that these two deserve two separate threads.Unlike, for example, cyclops, whose upgrade is almost the same, except for basic stats.Kalah wrote:I see you've left out the H4 crossbowman... You know, just because they changed the name and looks of the weapon, it doesn't mean it' snot the same creature. It's still a human Haven basic level shooter.
I agree with you. DL probably has his own motivation for not using the IV crossbowman, but the list just doesn't seem complete to me. It's fine if we're splitting hairs, but from a poll point of view, surely one should have the option to vote for the crossbowman - as you mention, it's still a haven basic level range attacker.Kalah wrote:I guess we disagree.
The average person thinks he isn’t.

Human?
He wanted the Archer, not the Crossbowman/Marksmen. That's why he didn't use this too:

You know very well what I meant by that.ThunderTitan wrote:So if the basic shooter in Haven was a Three-Headed Biclops you wuld put him in this list?
Oh well then, I must be totally off track as, there I was, thinking that a man, living in a haven, shooting an arrow could be associated with a man, living in a haven, shooting a bolt.
Thank you very much.Vlad976 wrote:If it looked like this:

Associated yes. William Tell and Robin Hood can be compared also, but each uses different weapons. If you make a list of bowmen Tell isn't gonna be there, is he.Babri wrote: Oh well then, I must be totally off track as, there I was, thinking that a man, living in a haven, shooting an arrow could be associated with a man, living in a haven, shooting a bolt.
The Crossbowman belongs with the Marksman, if the latter ain't there neither should the former.

IMO it should be the one who started the thread who decides on the topic.
If anybody feels strongly about it, make another thread "evolution of the archer/marksmen/crossbowmen".
And I hope someone else will make another evolution thread since it seems some people are bothered about me making most of them.

The dictionary says that an archer is a person with a bow and arrow. So, not crossbowmen. Which means that the H3 "archer" shouldn't be there, and shouldn't be called "archer". If you have one crossbowman masquerading as an archer you might as well invite the H4 crossbowman to the party too.
However, on the other side of the argument, a crossbow is a sort of bow, so maybe they do count after all!
Basically, the poll is flawed either way because it includes one crossbowman but not the other.

Archery is both for Bows and Crossbows. GC already proved that. And it's not the type of bow it has that DL is baseing this on, but it's abilities.
