All right, people, can you please be done with the stealing issue and discuss the game itself? What were your impressions?

I think "stealing" fulfills the above criteria. Whether you define downloading as stealing or not is obviously subject for debate.
Who's moral principles. The guy's who thinks poor people shouldn't get stuff because they don't have money? I bet it's easy to do that when he doesn't have that problem.

Theoretically, there shouldn't be any exceptions: 'poor people' shouldn't be 'excused', so to speak, for pirating the game just because they don't have the money to buy it. But as I said, absolute laws and real life don't go together, and the results are, well... diverse.

I think actually, one of the biggest problems of piracy for publisher income could be something a little more trivial. Let's say the pirates are efficient and release the software for download before it hits the shop or at the same time. Loads of people download it (even if they intend to buy it) and then BANG! They start reviewing the software and posting information about the actual finished product to the web where it spreads to a fair number of readers. (Look here at HoMMV)

So if the product is potentially problematic and there are things that can be criticised of the final product and before or during release - loads of people will take heed and not buy it. Many would have gone in the first week wave to go grab the game early - but this kind of spurns it.

Without knowing too much about it - I wonder if the biggest indicator of profit etc are the early days when most purchases are made. If the pirates spoil this by bringing out reviews (possibly detrimental) then many don't buy!

But then the laws should be standardised.For example if a ticket for speeding is now lets say 100$ its not fair since some rich guy wont care even if he spends 1000$ every month for those tickets.But,if that ticket was lets say 10% of your income,then everyone would be penalized the same.As far as I remember,there was an attempt to pass this(I think it was in netherlands,but Im not sure),and it worked quite well.Some CEO had to pay a fine for excesive speeding of a few thousand euros.Im sure he wont be speeding long after that.

So ? Whose fault is if the game is problematic ?
At least, people will be warned, and they don't waste their money on a bad product. :devil:

@tLD:
I wasn't talking about the law. And even laws aren't absolute.
Also, i've noticed that rich people seem to get off easier for theft then poor people.

@innokenti
Poor little game companies. They won't manage to trick people into buying their crappy games. Pardon me while I go cry in a corner for them... :rolleyes:

The law in Norway is like that, for drunk driving. Therefore, if some very rich person is driving drunk, the fine could easily be in the millions...

I wasn't defending the game companies there. I was pointing out what may be the main reason they are concerned with piracy.

It can burst the hype bubble. Just as well for us gamers!

You're still arguing this issue. Man you people have issues. Just bury the hatchet and let this go away.

By the way. The game is AWESOME. I don't know if anyone posted that it has kick ass cutscene of Isabel's wedding, and Nicolai is quite a hero, defeating Arch Devil all alone, man that's a hero. Well gotta go... ;)

@TT
"Law" in the general sense, not necessarily "legal act passed through the Parliament" and stuff like that. Laws, principles... whatever they are, they can't be applied in real life in their absolute form. Read Camil Petrescu if you want more details. Knowing my experience might also help, but that's another story...

I liked it. Nival is not Blizzard with its resources, but they indeed can create very decent cinematics. In-game cutscenes are yawn, though, the characters aren't even moving their lips.

Hmm... shooting myself in the head just ain't my style (ala cu Ielele, nu?).
You can apply principles in RL in absolute form, its just going to end up badly. That was kinda the point of that story. Heck, the Nazies, the Inquisition and alot of other people were applying their principles in RL in an absolute fashion.

True. Though cuscene looks really like Warcraft 3.
But for in game, they could have done it better. But it is OK this way too. All in all the game is really good, but I can't say that there is no Warcraft 3 feeling in it. Graphics are really similar, and even the way objectives are shown and given to you. This is probably the only thing I kind of dislike in the game (I really don't like Warcraft 3, aweful game by my standards).

Yes, that's what I was talking about, C.P.'s drama "Jocul Ielelor" (so that other people know: a drama in which the hero is confronted with the results of his decision to apply absolute justice in everyday life), and what you explained afterwards is what I said in previous posts (absolute laws and real life don't go together very well...)

Then you shouldn't have said "can't be applied". It confused me.

But the most wonderful thing of H5 is that I'm playing it on:

Athlon XP 1,7GHz, 512MB RAM, Ati Radeon 9000Pro (64MB), and it takes just 1,4GB of HDD space. I haven't seen game with better graphics that requires so weak hardware. I'm more than happy because of that.

And the game is working great!

Just for the record, intro animation is crap.
I am not talking about quality of animation, rather i m talking about very unconvincing voice acting and deja-vu feeling you get while you are watching it.
