Re: Masters of Magic → Lambent Plains
Playing on Champion
I left Bohb and Violet together most of the scenario. I was able to clear my beginning island in the first week. The bad new was I couldn't quite get Bohb to Level 21. I still needed 5000 before the final battle. I should have split up my heroes up after the first week and given Bohb the heavier lifting.
Until I had Angels I only used creature between battles to help my heroes go faster. My army for the last battle was 20 Angels, 15 Thunderbirds and 27 Genies. The Angels took out the opposing Barbarian General on the first turn of the battle and everything was trivial from there.

Lambent Plains Max 22
I didn't take my own advice and split my heroes early, so Bohb only reached L21. I had 5 Order Lords but their only source of xp was chests. There are 4 Veteran's Guilds so you can make them more effective for gold. You need LOTS of gems, especially if you want to try for Titans in your army!
Here are some excerpts from my journal.
Week 1, kept Bohb and Violet together, captured the second academy on day 4. Finished everything on my island on day 7. Bought 4 wood so I could build a ship.
Week 2, tried to follow the walkthrough but 24 Angels against 2 heroes (w/o any PoI) was impossible! Rewind. Encountered Oreha. Not ready. Turned north and took a neutral stronghold and a Purple Haven, got the Angelfeather Cloak. Now I have to tiptoe around Oreha, so I don't finish prematurely.
Week 3, Took Purple's last town. Took the northern neutral haven.
Week 4, Completed the College of Life. I went in through the back way, summoning a ship to cross at the north edge of the map. After completing everything else (except the ToK) I really coveted the xp for beating the Angels (27 now). Piece of cake. Violet had picked up Spider Silk Arrows, so I was able to ground the Angels and use Quicksand to hold them off while I pounded them with ranged attacks.
Meanwhile I was able to frustrate Red by hiding an Order Lord in a mine near one of his towns. He kept coming back to reclaim the town but then would leave it unprotected again. Rinse, repeat.
Week 5, a one-way caravan! I can caravan away from my starting island but not to it! Took Red's Stronghold on the southern island.
Week 6, Bohb reached L20 (2,2,4). Started gathering troops via caravan while Bohb journeyed to the ToK to pick up L21.
Week 8, Cornered Oreha on the southern island. Looking back at my army from 2 years ago I was apprehensive, I had 10 Angels, 29 Genies, 67 magi but it wasn't a problem. Oreha didn't have very good magic resistance and went down on the second round. I lost 1 Genie and 4 magi.
Finished on 4,2,1.
