Unable to click quests in mm6-8 merge

Hello, I am trying to start the merge and have downloaded the game. When I try to start or turn in a quest on either of the worlds I want to start (6/7) it acts like I didn't click anything. This also makes it so I can't shut off the tutorial of 7. I have all the items but can't even start the quest. Did I install something wrong?

I believe you either installed Greyface at the wrong point, or did not uncheck the options in the Greyface installation (Theres an option that says "unclick these if installing over a large mod" or something like that.) You'll likely need to reinstall.

I installed greyface after overwriting the files, and both were unchecked. I have actually tried uninstalling and reinstalling a couple times. As far as I can tell I have followed the instructions as directed.

This is a known issue with the instructions as written in Rodril's post. The correct instructions are in my signature, and are about to be edited into this post.

You need to install the base mod first, and then install the latest GrayFace patch on top of that. Always install GrayFace on top of the merge, never the merge on top of GrayFace.

I'll have to mess around with it. What I have been doing is install 8, install the merge, install greyface and I have the quest problem. If I'm understanding that's what your saying to do?

Within Rodril's first post, he included three links at the top of his post.

You need to either download the main files from MEGA or OneDrive. Once that's installed, you need to download/apply the Merge Patch (third link). After doing that, apply GrayFace's patch (latest being 2.4.1). Rodril's post links to GrayFace's 2.4.0 patch, so make sure you are downloading GrayFace's 2.4.1 patch here: https://github.com/GrayFace/Misc/releas ... v2.4.1.exe

I've been doing 2.4 I think, the one on his post. I'll have to try 2.4.1 when I get home from work tonight. Thanks.

2.4.1 had the same problem unfortunately. I am unable to do much to proceed in the game. Any other thoughts? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Does it work if you just install the mod without installing the latest Grayface?

Just tested, no it doesn't. MM8 quests work before I transfer the merge files over. Once I transfer them over the quests stop working.

Have you used gog version of MM8? Do you use any localization?
I've successfully installed Merge in Jan 2020 just following first post instructions. (success story)

Not much help, but about 2 weeks ago downloaded merge files from Mega, had an old gog MM8 installer and a computer that had never seen a MM game before. Everything seems to be working fine for me.
Is there anything else broken in the game than quest triggers? Intro videos etc running, game plays normally, no freezing just quest triggers do not work?

I hope you didn't take anything from MM6/MM7. You need just MM8.

MM8 only. Everything but the quest triggers work. There is no freezing. The game I started is at the start of 7, I can play the whole isle. I just can't accept the dragon quest or turn in any items.

Honestly im about ready to give up. I can't see anything wrong with how I'm installing it based on what in reading. I've done it numerous times.

Tried changing the install folder? Sometimes installing to program files can cause problems, and for me, the D drive can be problematic, so you can just put it straight to C/World of Enroth or something.

One more guess: do you use MouseLook? If yes, does behavior change with enabled CapsLock?

Having the same issue here as well can't figure it out. Have a feeling it has something to do with the mouse look. Any way to turn it off? Does teh gog version make a difference?

Ok have confirmed it's not the mouselook as I still have the quests not activating issue.

ok I've fixed the problem after a re-install. I used an original version of the game for the install is how I fixed this issue.
