Re: Bug Reports after patch 2.2.1 (Last patch - Quick Hotfix)
Um, since Ubisoft has pulled the plug on h7, I guess this is now moot?
In any case I, who seems to be the most vocal person on h7, have already uninstalled uplay and h7 from my computer. Since there will not be any Inferno faction showing up anymore in a future expansion, I guess h7 is more or less dead until some future H3WOG team/ H4 Equilibris team/ H5.5mod team shows up to make the game up to our liking. But given the fact that the codes were one big mess, I don't think anyone wants to tackle h7 on his own.
I have the icky feeling that the Heroes franchise is more or less dead.
I am also guessing that the only way to revive this franchise is via the crowdfunding route. Using a bunch of dedicated fans to make a game on their own, supported by funding from internet fans such as me. But that opens up another can of worms. Many of the crowdfunding projects have turned out to be scams/ near scams.

It doesn't happen very often, but I agree. I'm not saying Pol should not have created the thread, but we have no hopes for bug fixes. I will report any I find not already reported by cjlee. Whenever I get around to playing again...Stellaris DLC and Civilization VI are coming this month.cjlee wrote:Um, since Ubisoft has pulled the plug on h7, I guess this is now moot?

I think there is a bug with the squares of the battle grid :

https://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/291793grid2.jpg
Those squares are not supposed to stay green right?

Right.
Thought I don't remember it, when I was playing the game. Anything special about your settings?
(Windows+GPU?)

Re: Bug Reports after patch 2.2.1 (Last patch - Quick Hotfix)
I haven't been on the forums for more than 6 months, but recently came back just because it has been a while since I played H7.
Some months ago Trial by Fire was going for $6.99. Back then I was sneering, it'll be $3.99 soon, and that is when I buy this buggy expansion. After all, I'd gotten the main game for just 9.99 USD.
But guess what? Now there is no way to get Trial by Fire for even three times my preferred price. The lowest is 16 euros, and even these are limited offers. A more common price is 24 euros and up.
Does Ubisoft know how to do business at all? When you have something crap, the best way is to sell it at a low price, not raise the price above what it was commonly going for.
If Trial by Fire was patched to perfection like Heroes III was, I would certainly consider 24 Euros seriously. But no way in hell anybody would buy an infamously buggy expansion of a game that is now off-support, at the price of a full original game.
I just played 1/3 of a game on H7. Lots of bugs, so I can't finish the scenario. My main hero is a logistics specialist, level 4 logistics, got all the perks like extra movement on home ground. Then suddenly her movement points got cut from 38 to 25 permanently with no pathfinding and no ability to get increased movements from visits to structures. The secondary heroes were all moving faster than my main hero because they still enjoyed things like logistics perks on home ground and stables visit boost. Restarting the game and and loading earlier savegame didn't help.
With this kind of experience, how am I expected to pay 24 euros for the expansion? My first heroes game in 7 months and already it is ruined by bugginess. Within 2 hours I am reminded of why I stopped H7 gaming to begin with.

If my memory is not failing me, I got the whole game for less than 20€. Well, played it a bit. Not a bad investment but not a good either. If that wouldn't be for a collection, I would pass it. I enjoyed H6 more.

I know this is off-topic, but I really enjoy playing H4 out of all the first four Heroes games. I didn't like it at first, but now I enjoy it a lot. However, I don't think I have the patience and pure dedication for map-making. I'm currently playing the H4 campaigns that have been converted for The Greatest Mod.
Never really got into the Ubisoft Heroes (apart from H5 a bit with that expansive mod, and I only got H5 from GOG because of the mod).

Steven, I downloaded that mod, put it in my folder, but it didn't seem to do anything. I can load the campaign maps from that mod when I enter game and look for the maps supposedly specifically modded for the campaign, but everything still seems to look the same (no unit and faction change)

Re: Bug Reports after patch 2.2.1 (Last patch - Quick Hotfix)
It is completely modular, so it doesn't overwrite other game versions. The file you need to run has a funny name "Equivocado 17 NoVore.exe". That's the file you run to get the new content. Then you just find the campaign files in the "Scenarios" (it is not one of the standard campaigns). The remastered maps are in the Maps folder under "\GreatestMaps\[ALL] H4 Campaigns Remastered", but you probably already know that. And as you know, you need to change the processor affinity so only CPU 0 can run the game, as H4 was created before programs knew about multiple cores. All versions and mods of H4 stick to this rule.

Um, how to change processor affinity? I don't even understand what this is.

Re: Bug Reports after patch 2.2.1 (Last patch - Quick Hotfix)
This is for Windows 10 at least.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del, click Task Manager. In Task Manager, click the "Details" tab. Find the H4 or mod executable that is already running, right click and click "Set affinity". Deselect everything except CPU0. Click OK. H4 doesn't know how to use multiple cores at the same time, and if the system tries to get H4 to do this, H4 will crash.
Note: you need to do this each time you start the program, which I personally don't mind, but there is a way to make a shortcut to set this without having to manually set it each time you run it. Probably the details for this are somewhere in CH.
