Due to all the enjoyment and excitement its given me over the last decade, I'm going with HoMM II. I've also dubbed it 'the best game of all time' though that is of course an extremely subjective opinion.

Though at first dissatisfied with it, I've learned to love HoMM IV as well, and it comes in as a very, very close second.

H2 was a clasic always will be my favorite no matter what. It had the best feel of any of the series and the storyline was great.

Heroes III for me. Loved heroes II, but then came heroes III that was the same in principle, but new creatures, new towns and more options. Loved it from the minute I saw it. Heroes IV took time to get used to it. I like it now, but not as much as heroes III or II.

Love H4 its good for me... fans of H4 (Equilibris) are do more things for that game... I fan too, but not H4 else Equilibris... Kidding... What really is its like 3d mode of H4... so H1 and H2 no fans of them, like : Wake of Gods' or 'Equilibris'... but no hurt.... :)

These days I'm mostly playing Heroes IV, but overall I've spent most time by far with H3 and in many ways it's IMO still the best game of the series.

H3 was my first contact with the game's universe, and the most pleasant up to date, although H4 was also nice to play.

It's gotta be H3...H2 was an extremely good game, and 3 just took that even further with more towns, creatures, maps, and campaigns. H1 was pretty good WAY back in the day, and H4 has a few problems, but other than that it's a nice game.

I voted H-IV as its map editor and heroes in the army allow for better RPG campaign creation, but I really loved the creature set of H-III.

voted IV for the heroes development and the sharing of risks with the troopers, but i like all. My first was King's Bounty and only missed I

I don't want listen bad but: H3 And 4 are the most pupolar!/popular!.
For example: WoG and Equi, they are a fans of Thats game, but H1/2 not!
But H3 beautiful becuse: (example) evil eye can to develop to |super| evil eye. :) and other creatures. its the only that beautify. But not something bad i say!!! :D

H2 for me
The Warlock town and it's music are my favorites. I also would like to have seen Wild Boars remain in the series. H2 had the coolest looking Orcs too.

The best heroes game was a second part. Although heroes 1 and 3 were good too. But i just created acc here to say that heroes 4 were a total crap... Maybe most of the ppl checking these forums started playing heroes only few years ago or smth like that... i dont know, but heroes 4 were worst because of the "new" battle system, mixed factions and the "technology tree", and im very happy to see none of these bugs in heroes 5.
The real heroes were I and II because they simply had a style and only the old players will understand what im talking about i guess...
