The Elves Have It

Unread postby Kalah » 11 Sep 2014, 07:13

The fifth faction in Heroes VII will be Sylvan.

In the current Shadow Council <a target="_blank" href="/https://mmh7.ubi.com/en/blog/post/view/ ... ote between Fortress and Sylvan, the elves now have an overwhelming lead of 66% to the dwarves' 34% with less than 15 hours left to vote, making a Dwarven win a statistical impossibility. We therefore feel confident in calling the vote at this time, declaring that the elves will be the ones to join Academy, Haven, Necropolis and Stronghold in the initial release. The Fortress may at some point make a return in an expansion, but we have no information regarding the chances of this.

A later vote will decide the sixth and final faction to join the H7 lineup. That vote stands between Dungeon and Inferno.

I didn't think they would put Inferno on the Council, being demons and all, but it just wouldn't feel as much of a Heroes game without them.

Still, not sure if I would vote on them or Dungeon as the final faction. I like them both a lot.

I was under the impression that Dungeon vs Inferno vote would be not about joining the Council, but rather for the "bad guy" role. We need a bad guy after all, don't we? :)

It could be Dungeon vs. Sanctuary (why does everybody seem to forget this faction? I quite liked it in MMH6)

Anyhow, I would have liked the dwarves better. But hey, perhaps in an expansion...

Unless.... the majority of voters held off till last minute, though I think that is unlikely with most people having made up their minds far in advance.

I think I need to replay Disciples II dwarf Campaign to get over this. We need a dwarf cursor in MM7 as a sign of reconciliation for this unfortunate and uninformed vote by pony lovers. No more pony cursor until we have the dwarf faction back.

@theGryphon:

There is no bad guy per se. It's about a civil war.

I was trying to get on the blog and check the official result; so, apparently, was everyone else. The official site is actually down.

Sounds like an underground band of dwarf-loving hackers has struck.

I saw the poll change to "closed" and the border around Sylvan light up. Then everything stopped working, been slow or down ever since for me.

A new voting option is on the site, vote for the Sylvan unit combos as well as a new screenshot for the Treant. Check it out: https://mmh7.ubi.com/en/blog/post/view/ ... an-line-up

Actually I'd rather have the Dwarves than the Academy, Haven, or the Stronghold. HOW CAN YOU NOT HAVE DWARVES?!

Well, we survived 5 games without them. Not to mention that they weren't part of any vanilla game of the series.

Just because we've survived 5 games without them doesn't make it a good thing.
