Anyone excited about Age of Wonders III?

Unread postby Sir Alock » 06 Aug 2013, 20:00

I've been following AOWIII for a few months now. Looks like it will be released in the Fall/Winter (fingers crossed) Looks promising. Playing Eador "Master of the Broken World" @ the moment. It's really a remake of Eador Genesis, but I paid $9.99 for it from GOG games & I'm enjoying it.

Ofc and I am excited! Age of Wonders gave me dozens of hours of turn based strategy fun, I really can't wait to see the new part ;)

I'm pretty pumped as well. I never thought Triumph would bring back a 3rd series. Nice too see some TB gaming still being churned-out. My bet Triumph won't release a half-baked game either.

I hope the combat animations get improved. They look a little silly right now. It's hard to believe that it's coming out this year when so little info has been released about it until now.

I agree. It's appears that there is a wealthy backer (money to burn) that loved the AoW series & bank-rolled AoW3. It's slated for a Fall release (fingers crossed) The artwork looks pretty nice overall, we'll see how the gameplay unfolds.

The comment section also says it won't be released until Q1 2014. 8|

I was hoping the interface would be optimized instead of being pretty much the same as the previous game.

Also looks like combat AI is incompetent. :(

Two more months until release. I haven't enjoyed almost every pc game that was released in 2013, so here's hoping this game turns out to be a top tier strategy game.

Not sure what language this is, but apparently, the video is "epic" as appears to be most things these days. ;|

BTW...Gog.com, has AOW III available for a pre-order @ $39.99 I'm already in! Come on $40.00 (US) is a steal for this game, that I'm sure is going to be top-notch! I spend $40.00 @ my local pub on a Friday night within 2 hours!

All your pub friends will be wondering where you went if this turns out to be really good. I really hope... I can't handle another one of my favorite games becoming a huge let down.

Yes...I'm hoping my pub friends wonder where I am! Looks like we have less then a week for the AOW3 release! I'm so pumped! My 1st game was HoMM1 & my 2nd was Master of Magic. AOW 3 is as close to MoM as we'll see in our lifetime! Turned-based gaming still LIVES!

Why so expensive in Serbia? I purchased the AOW 3 Deluxe version for $44.99 on GOG games. Here's the link:

Can't wait for it's release! That doesn't seem right price wise.

None atm. I need some free time to play it first.

First impression is good but I really need to play more then this few rounds to explore the game.

Is it just me or does everything look really small and hard to notice details in this game? Maybe the problem is my monitor - it's native resolution is 2560 x 1440, but I'm having a hard time identifying details of all the objects, squinting to read the text, even when I zoom in, the graphics look hazy on the highest settings... maybe I'm just becoming old and senile, but this game is really hard on my eyes.

To make matters worse, so many units look alike and it's hard to discriminate between them. I accidently had my archers melee attack a monster because I thought they were the spearman. ;| I don't know... even past aow games had really similar looking units for every tier, but it feels like my HoMM pet peeve all over again where every level unit was an orc or elf wearing different cloths with a random dragon for the hell of it. :(
