What has happened to my VI?

What has happened to my VI?

t has been awhile since playing VI and after updating Uplay and entering the first campaign, I find that some of the features are locked out? So how do I get them unlocked?

Ubisoft has recently stopped supporting Heroes 6, maybe that's the reason.
Make you strong places to dwell and practice the evil of your arts. Build great monuments to stand through the ages and remind your followers of the task with which you have been charged. Use these halls of iniquity to perpetrate your schemes against the infestation that has taken the fields and lakes of this land from you, their rightful masters.
