Something Is Rotten. . . and boy ain't that the truth!

I'm starting to remember why I put HMM6 down for so long (last time I played, there were no expansions out.) First Haven campaign mission is. . . ridiculous. Even on Easy difficulty, I keep getting bum rushed by opposing heroes from all directions, and the only hope I have is to keep almost all my creatures on my main hero. Even then, I keep taking losses, while they keep pillaging my countryside and attacking my towns. It's giant game of whack-a-mole, and there's no way to actually explore the map and pick things up.

Am I just missing something incredibly obvious, or does this mission really suck that hard?

Only mission I struggled with (somewhat) is the 4th sanctuary mission.
I suggest reading the walkthrough.

I did. Even following that, I'm getting too many bad guys coming at me.
