Well....Should I?

Unread postby Bonzer » 25 Jun 2013, 20:57

Hi All,
New to H6 forum, (lurked a lot though), but played a LOT of H2 - H5.

Question is should I get H6? I probably have more limted and specific requirements from HoMM than most so if I explain them here, I would welcome any opinions on whether to get the H6 Complete hard copy (not steam).

1)I play single player only.
2)I would use the campaigns as a tutorial and then only play single scenarios, mostly downloaded from here or Maps for Heroes.
3) I have of course been put off by all the hoohah at SoD launch time, and wonder if my set up, together with Patches 2.0 and 2.1.1 would be enough to ensure trouble free Xenophobia
4) I get the impression that permanent Internet connection is required, that's ok in principle, but if Uplay servers are busy will THAT be the problem?
My System is Intel Pentium G870, 3.1 Ghz, Nvidia GT630, WinXpSP3
What do people think?
Are the problems sorted (for my system specs)?
Are the single scenarios as "good" as H2 - H5?

I don't own H-6 but you will find that the number of fan made maps are a bit sparse; the editor was just not user friendly enough. I believe CH only has around 4 available, hope that helps.

I think no. It's just not worth it at the moment, with all the flaws and patching that needs to be done, along with the lack of replayability. I'd wait until the price drops heavily.

Well thanks guys for the replies. I suspected as much which is why for the first time I asked here whether to get a HoMM game or not. Such a shame because it does promise so much and looks good. Almost too good to be true, which usually means....

Jeff - There are quite few H6 scenario maps at Maps4Heroes, though how good they are I can't say. Perhaps never will

Kalah - Amazon uk has H6 Complete for just over £20 so it might tempt someone as it nearly tempted me. Maybe next year.

My guess is that the price will drop significantly a month or two before Christmas.

I just sent them my latest creation: Fear Under a Cold Knee.

It's basically an old map that I renamed. Can't wait for it to be available for download... :D

I'm a bit disappointed about that name change though.

We, on the other hand, don't rename maps ... ;)

Especially then. ;)

Anyway, topic question answered, so can be closed... unless there is other on-topic business? :)
