It was made ages ago, coming out of an extensive forum thread and one member in particular who was insanely familiar with mythology. There's no plans to expand it.

They are names from the Book of Revelations (final book of the Bible). I believe that Gog was a king and Magog the kingdom over which he ruled. Satan would summon them in the Apocalypse, where they would fight against Israel, but other than that, the references are quite obscure.

Anyway, they aren't really a type of creature, and the only reason why NWC would use the names is because of their reference to Satan.

thanks marelt ekiran shame that gog and magog aren't in inferno they were so good and i hope the hero calh is back he's a legend i remember marching my armies into a rampart and slaughtering those little elves with my 250 arch devil stack. Aaah memories...

gog and magog are originally in the old testament as giants or nefilim "half angel half human" I think they were leftovers as most died in the flood. They were famous giant kings with fabulous kingdoms. Goliath that David killed with his slingshot was some sort of relative. What they symbolize in Revelations is a perplexing question, probably some person or factor in the Roman Empire. Satan of course, wasn't part of the theology of the old testament, but there is some confusion in Christian folklore between "sons of God" who had children with "daughters of Eve" the nefilim and the much later concept of "fallen angels"
