I played HoMM II when I was younger. I don't think I have my old CD anymore, but I bought HoMM V, the edition with HoMM II. I remembered my old HoMM II playing experience to include songs like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KepdwOXLfnM and this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGroWsGGcTc
So apparently I played HoMM II: Price of Loyalty. But the edition I have now received with my copy of HoMM V, is HoMM II: Gold. It comes with tracks like these instead:

Is there any way for me to change the music back to the PoL-tracks? I SO much favour the castle themes from that game. As I don't have the old PoL-CD, I can't do the trick Kristo recommended in this thread: viewtopic.php?t=989&highlight=music
If not, is there any way for me to buy the original? I really don't want to dig up the old game for real if it doesn't feel like the real thing, and the music is essential for me in that respect. I saw that GOG had the Gold Edition, but I assume that wouldn't help as well.

Yeah. I have the Heroes II: Gold Edition from GOG as well and the music used is from the original Heroes II release, not the POL expansion.
You could always get the Heroes Compendium and run a separate installation. I have this version and can verify that it uses the POL music. It IS rather pricey though.

I don't know how that version handles the music. If the music plays from the game cd, then I am not sure how to change it without having the disc with the other tracks.
However, if the game uses a cue file for directing to the music in a directory, then you could simply replace the sound files manually. Somebody provided links for the sound tracks on the gog forum.

The gog version of the game, which is quite cheap, does have the PoL soundtrack as default.
