H5 TOE Map Editor question
The Rehirecamp is only a list of Hero data, so you can leave it and it shouldn't interfere with other maps. The only time that it would have to be removed is if you did not want players to be able to rehire...say Godric or Findan etc.
Btw, with your finding I need to make a list of Heroes that will work and post it at EE until I can figure out how to add the others. The H3 editor was sooo much easier...arrrgh!
This is the main EE url so you should save, the work is on-going.

Here's the download link for the current A.I. "J"

Also, If you want to read about Quantomas' A.I. development since Feb,2010 for the background info; Znork posted New unofical AI patche for h5 here at CH (a few down from your post) and Q posted at HC Thread: New (unofficial) patch for ToE / AI mod

Ahh that works too! I do find that the window which opens up, extnds past the bottom of my screen. Is there a way to correct that?markkur wrote:If you mean you downloaded the A.I. It might not work with the RMG but of that I'm not sure,
I never use the game-screen-version I have used the feature inside the editor if I want to make a random map. Take a look there before we do anything. "Tools then...first line is it"
How can I tell which starting belongs to which colour of player?
That sounds like a windows issue, did you try minimizing or adjusting the window?Variol wrote: Ahh that works too! I do find that the window which opens up, extnds past the bottom of my screen. Is there a way to correct that?
Fyi, I will sometimes have the editor windowed with other programs for quick reference. i.e. Making a H5 map of an historical or fictional, bmp, jpg or png map
Right above the window that shows the objects from the filter you have selected, are the lines "filter" and "player". Default should be "player none".Variol wrote: How can I tell which starting belongs to which colour of player?
If you change that to a player number, then until you change it back to none; that player will own every object you place on the map at game start.
Fyi, I never place objects in that fashion. I always make sure that it stays on player none. i.e. I place my towns and then go around selecting each one (red) and hitting the spacebar and then I set the ownership. Note: any object that can be owned "at game start" will have the player number there after hitting spacebar.
Btw, inside the editor, player numbers are one off; meaning 0 is player 1, 1 is player 2 and so on.
Default colors are
one =red
two-blue
three=green
four=yellow
five=orange
six-teal
seven=purple
eight=tan or brown
For Heroes, you'll have to place them, highlight the Hero and then hit spacebar and player number is under "Settings", You'll see the Hero's color change to the player number you chose.
Note:Red, player 1 is always the default setting, so you always have to set this or at game start all heroes will belong to player one.

The windows which come up, like the town one, are not adjustable.
Maybe they're not designed for an LCD monitor, or maybe it doesn't like my resolution?
I'm just playing a random map and I'm wondering if your mod made any modifications to it? I have found 7 artifacts so far and 4 of them are The Necklace of the Lion. I've never seen so many of the same item in the same area.

The pop-up windows are not adjustable, I thought you were talking about the main. My rez is maxed at 1920 X 1080 (widescreen) and I've not seen any problems, in game or editor.Variol wrote:The windows which come up, like the town one, are not adjustable.Maybe they're not designed for an LCD monitor, or maybe it doesn't like my resolution?
No. Random is random and I've seen that sort of thing alot and its can get really tiresome on very large maps.. That's why I don't use the rmg or if I have I always tweaked it by changing or deleting the undesirable results. i.e. Since Leadership and luck are skills, I always took the morale and luck bonus-sites off the map. The rmg puts tons of those on the r-maps.I'm just playing a random map and I'm wondering if your mod made any modifications to it? You should review the "Fan Manual" (made by fans) and see what artifacts you don't want on a map. If you have everything allowed, then you will see Angel Wings etc.
No, not yet...markkur wrote:Did you try different screen resolutions?

Thanks for the link! I'm actually on that site all the time. I check the creature and hero stats there.

I may be a "stick in the mud" but I like my own workspace and don't care for on line info gathering. I downloaded the pdf fan-manual (once more; TY to the makers) among other things I've mentioned and make maps off-line.
H5 is now an old game along with the editor and I only "guess" that's it's wise to not allow any behind the scenes pc-activity while making maps or playing the game. Like your missing objects problem, corruption is an issue with HoMM5 and what causes the headaches is a mystery, so this is one way I try and prevent errors. I seldom have problems these days so there must be something to my method. However I still duplicate and save all work.

Yes, that is what I meant. Where is the "passability" option?markkur wrote:I'm not sure I understand. If you mean when placing the objects on the map inside the editor; if you turn on "passability", it will reveal the green trigger cell on each object that you will need to keep accessable of course.<L>
Let me know if you meant something else.
Under "View" make sure you have both "toolbars" checked. The A.I. Passability has the most red, about 7th icon from the right. Your cursor should identify the icons whenever it hovers over them. You can navigate the files w/o but the toolbars, as always, are...quick.
Did you get the guide I made? It's only text and nothing fancy but it should help you quite a bit.
Cheers
