"I think we're going to the moon because it's in the nature of the human being to face challenges. It's by the nature of his deep inner soul... we're required to do these things just as salmon swim upstream."

Or as Sam Seaborn said it:

"There are a lot of hungry people in the world, Mal, and none of them are hungry 'cause we went to the moon. None of them are colder and certainly none of them are dumber 'cause we went to the moon.
[Mars] is next. [W]e came out of the cave, and we looked over the hill and we saw fire; and we crossed the ocean and we pioneered the west, and we took to the sky. The history of man is hung on a timeline of exploration and this is what's next."

Perhaps but this Dallas was a TV show. The episode where the person who shot JR is revealed was or is the most watched TV show world wide. Perhaps it was before your time.

Charles Durning ... :rip:

I remember him lately from an excellent performance in NCIS as well as Denis Leary's Rescue Me, but he also appeared (more famously) in Tootsie and The Sting. Nominated for two Oscars and very versatile as an actor, he's the kind of guy who has appeared in tons of films and TV shows so you're bound to have seen him in something.
