The quality is unknown to me. So far it's a very young system, missing some drivers and patches (I heard complaints from other admins who tried). And probably not good to be used until SP1.

Start menu can be re-enabled with some hack.

Tiles forever, other than that I don't know.

Take a look here. Somewhere should be floating Premium version too.

Well Windows 8 is lighter, and they make it for all kinds of devices (laptop/pc/phones/tablets) so I'm guessing they will go for stuff like Apple does (sync on every device).
It's just sh*t for me that they don't make a full fletched PC/laptop version. I don't want those freaking tiles! I just want mij regular Windows!
Also, it seems to be more closed then other Windows versions. Chief of Valve and Blizzard both complained about the structure it has.

I'm not getting 8. Windows 7 is good enough for me. Upgrade at your own risk.
You can either agree with me, or be wrong...

I had to choose to new parts since all the prices changed. I was hoping for the expert feedback around here. :D

MOBO:

http://www.microcenter.com/product/3863 ... otherboard

Memory:

http://www.microcenter.com/product/3932 ... y_Modules)

or

http://www.microcenter.com/product/3473 ... y_Modules)

Hard Drive:

http://www.microcenter.com/product/4008 ... Bare_Drive

The reviewers talked about "Hitatchi" and this being unreliable so I'm worried about it.

Power:

http://www.microcenter.com/product/3390 ... wer_Supply

This was the worst since all the prices sky rocketed and I don't know what to choose any more.

Vid card, case, and processor are the same as before.

What about to try AMD line of setup? Soon it will be doable, with AMD Vishera CPUs, they should be available in month or close to it. AMD is usually cheaper, almost so powerful but just 'almost', requiring CPU cooler and did I said that is cheaper? :P

As for the current setup:
GA-Z77X-D3H - yes, although the revision version is not advertised.
XMS3 Series 8GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) CL9 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit (Two 4GB Memory Modules) - would pick this ones, they are faster with smaller capacity. (16GB is more than it's necessary). They also will be more compliant.
1TB 7,200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - Bare Drive - probably yes, check for the warranty, you want at less two years. I don't know about any tests for this drive however it sounds good.
Extreme_Power_Plus_700W_ATX_Power_Supply - Perhaps, but it's better lowend. Don't expect real 700Watts from it (Likely it's just 500W PSU) on the other hand electrical noise is supposed to be low - so it can be used. (side note: Coolermaster apart from Silent Pro series are usually pathetic PSUs)

Better ones: 1, 2 - review likely, review is just for the 730W version

Okay, I will wait. Speculation in this article talks about the prices:

http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/29159 ... ce-rumored

The one I was currently looking at is $170.

http://www.microcenter.com/product/3885 ... _Processor

Maybe prices will continue to go down after Vishera.

Or Trinity, if they will be better priced. And they just may. AMD is trying to pushing more this version. Simply, in three words, Piledriver in FM2.

They are rumoured to not to having so much power for the gaming but more for renders and similar real work stuff. This is coming from old equation, more cores but less performance per core. Intel is having advantage here. Here and also in power consumption.

I estimate that you may save up to 50$.

Anyone has tried one of those 2560 x 1440 (WQHD) resolution monitors, such as the Dell UltraSharp U2711?

I wish to replace my old 19" CRT soon, but before I consider spending $700, I want to make sure the high cost is worth it.
I'm on Steam and Xbox Live.

I tried the UltraSharp 24" 1900 x 1200 to replace my CRT.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dell+-+Ultr ... Id=4154798

It had great rotation, was mostly screen and little border, and didn't appear to have any physical problems I could notice, but I didn't like how the plugs going into the monitor were very difficult actually plug in and sometimes I put a USB in the monitor's port and it wouldn't recognize it, while other times it would. Again the USB ports were also not easy to plug in.

The picture quality appeared a little blurry on my computer but I really think that was because I was using a computer from year 2000 and the video card was obsolete for the new monitor. Further, I don't think I was using the optimal cable (I don't really understand this too much, but apparently Display Port? is better than the oldschool connector I was using).

I eventually returned it because I wanted to get a higher resolution one for the computer that I still haven't bought parts for. :S This is the one I have my eye on now:

At 700$ it needs to include weekly blowjobs to be worth it... wait for the inevitable price plummet when they actually get popular.

CyberFort 750V. It's having standard power cords.
(Not that I would know what cords you do need in your country.)

Check them, I have one at home and it works.

Looks good, but i just need it for 1 computer... really running out of room under my pc table.

And my monitor has a replicable power wire, so whatever is fine...

Just one?

At least there are two cords. Something like that could do.

There are more slim solution but they are more costy.

Well if i wanted 2 i'd just use the UPS in my brothers room, it has 6 sockets etc, but it's too big and i can barely fit my feet under the table as is. And a cable to his room would just get in the way too much...

Ended up picking a 23" ASUS during a Black Friday sale ($119 after a mail rebate). It's smaller than what I originally had in mind, but the price is sweet for a monitor with good reviews. So long, CRT...
