How can I modify HOMM2 maps to make them multiplayer?

Unread postby Aelanor » 17 Sep 2012, 11:40

Been years and years since I played, but re-installed. I used to have lots of maps, but they are all gone :(

I cannot remember how to modify HOMM2 maps to change them to multiplayer (maybe I did it with HOMM3?)

I tried to download some of the HOMM2 Price of Loyalty maps, but got a message saying "Invalid ID", although the Succession Wars maps seem to download ok.

Lastly... is Phil still around from the Astral Wizard? We used to talk all the time, I visited him once, but lost touch :( He got my husband and I started on EQ1, so I'm going back to about 1998.

Remember testing maps for Corribus way back when - that would be in the late 90's as well!

IIRC u'll have to edit the map options with the map editor.

I checked in the map editor, no option to change to multiplayer for HOMM2.

Only thing I can do is set players to human, computer or either.

I remember having to edit a file, but can't recall how. I believe it's the .MX2 files.

But, I also can't recall if I was able to do this with HOMM2 or not... not having good luck with searching online.

Any map that supports more than one human player should be available in multiplayer. If you're looking to set up a team game, that's a special victory condition: for example, "Blue and Green vs. Others."
