How many versions (distribution channels) of the game exist?

Unread postby Naki » 16 Aug 2012, 17:39

Wikipedia says "Steam", but I am pretty sure it is not only Steam.

For example, there are (I think, not sure?) also UBI digital download, UBI DVD disk, both of which don't need or use Steam.
Also, there is a Russian version by the Russian game company "Buka". Maybe Polish/Czech versions too (or maybe they use the same type as UBI digital download, not sure).
Thanks for any info! And please correct me if I am wrong.

There are mainly three versions:

1. HOMM VI Collector's Edition - box, t-shirt, poster, soundtrack, 4 additional heroes, 2 artifacts and a scenario "Heart of Darkness" in-game.
It is both digital and box version.

2. HoMM VI Digital Edition - 2 additional heroes and 1 artifact in-game. Only digital version.
IIRC this is what Steam has in offer.

3. HoMM VI - box version, just game itself.

HVI doesn't need Steam as it has own DRM called U(won't)Play. :P Only version bought by Steam use Steam, others not.

Umm, thanks, but I was hoping for another kind of list with all separate, something like:
1) Collectors Edition UBI Digital + Box. (or maybe even put these as 1) and 2))
2) Collectors Edition Steam (if such a thing exists - if not, skip this one.)
3) Standard Box version on a DVD (obviously no Steam, right)?
4) Digital Edition (Steam)
5) Digital Edition (UBI, non-Steam)

By the way, Avonu, do you have German or French version of the game?
(Or maybe I messed up and you have English or quite another language altogether? :D )

OTOH, if we speak about "distribution channels", then I assume we should say THREE and it will be correct:
1) Box
2) UBI digital
3) Steam

------------
EDIT: Seems Steam has TWO versions: Normal/Standard + Deluxe.
Deluxe Edition Content is this:
* Soundtrack.
* Artbook/Poster.
* One month subscription on Heroes Kingdom.
* 1 Bonus Single Player Skirmish Map.
* 4 Dynasty Heroes : Aguirre, Sveltana, Yume and Kraal.
* 2 Dynasty Weapon : Staff of Cleansing and Staff of Asha’s Eightfold.
May the Implosion be with you!

That's CE version, only by different name.

The Soundtrack. Or to simply say - according what it represents and what it is - a right to play music extracted from the game.

As original recording went lost during the game development phase. And hassles with copyrights.

Original soundtrack is not really presented in any edition.
