Poll: H6 Expansion or H7?
Our latest poll deals with the future of the Heroes series. Keeping in mind that H5 was far from what can justifiably be labled "finished" and only received acclaim as a well-functioning game after two expansions, what do you think should be done this time around?
Should the developers create expansion(s) for Heroes VI or go straight to Heroes VII?

I say move along and let us forget Homm6 ever happened.
Fix H6 first. Show us that you can do it Ubi. Otherwise, what's above.

Poll: H6 Expansion or H7?
Heroes VI isn't a bad HoMM game. I keep seeing it and seeing but the only legitimate justification I've seen for this sentiment so far is "bad map editor." Have any of the dissenters played Heroes V in all of its infamy?
Like many, I miss the old universe and would love to see the games return there. Ashan, as introduced in H5, was remarkably unremarkable. Then again, I don't know if I trust anyone but NWC with the old universe. I would rather have that universe stay untouched instead of gambling on it with another company.
@chimthegrim
The shout-out to Blizzard is cute, but the failure of D3 has opened many eyes to the fall of one of gaming's last bastions of integrity. Blizzard is now being domineered by profit-hungry Activision, and its games will now reflect that with features such as RMAH and appealing to the inept casual gamers instead of the dedicated veterans.

Some think this is exactly what is happening to the Heroes franchise, but isn't that the way of things. As Kalah mentioned in a different thread the composition of the fan base is changing. UBI like most companies targets the young male audience the source of most of the money spent on games. We veterans are being left behind, so fix H-6 or go to H-7; I don't see it makes any difference. UBI will make the same type of game with the same number of missteps.CloudRiderX wrote: appealing to the inept casual gamers instead of the dedicated veterans.

The younger ones are learning. If they will go straight away to H7 they will be having hard times, and very low sales.

Might and Magic X.
Make you strong places to dwell and practice the evil of your arts. Build great monuments to stand through the ages and remind your followers of the task with which you have been charged. Poll: H6 Expansion or H7?
I would love, in theory, to see Ubi get a MMX project together.
My only concern is that the game would either not have enough content, or be too linear. Dark Messiah, for instance, had great graphics and reasonably fun gameplay, but could be beaten in 6 hours and gave players few reasons to play through the game more than once. That's the exact opposite of what M&M should be, hence my skepticism.

H6 is anything but fun imho. So the faster they move along the better.

Let's just forget about the disaster that Heroes 6 was and move on to Heroes 7.
Ideally Ubisoft would sell the brand to someone who gives a damn about it.

Fix bugs. Test the game and when balanced create expansions.
Poll: H6 Expansion or H7?
These are my top 3 options (ignore the impossibility of them in practical world).
1. Expansion to Heroes 5! - preferably adding nagas, would be more interesting than either h6exp or h7 option to me.
2. Expansion to Heroes 6! - at least it wouldn't be starting from scratch, followed by years of nothing in hopes that someday we will magically get a better sequel.
3. Heroes 7 - last resort option for me. I was always in favor of expanding the current games instead of starting new ones.

Poll: H6 Expansion or H7?
All my "enthusiasm" for H6 was that the Engine / Editor is capable to draw very beautiful maps. But beside that, there seems to be nothing in H6 that I prefer over H3/4/5. To many changes in the wrong direction. Cut on resource complexity, flagable areas of control*, no H5 style initiative, and also my 3 prefered factions from h5 missing with only vague hopes they might be added later ...
I admit that i liked to toy around with the editor for a while, but since I do not like H6 game mechanics there is no motivation to really make a playable map. So I voted for H7. Make H7 a kind of a remake of H3 SOD and then add Features from H4 and 5 in Expansions.

*(loved it in Bitmap Brothers Z back in 96, but I don't like to see this kind of concept in a Hereos game)

It is time to move from the H3 model, it was becoming boring by the time SOD was released, though I did buy all of the chronicles. When UBI returned to that model with H5 and ignored the potential of H-IV it made H5 hard to play (all that resource micromanagement for one thing) and H6 well I haven't even bought for a variety of reasons. So if they can't break the H3 mold then they can make 7, 8 and 9 and I still won't buy.

I agree with the overusing of Heroes 3, it is really annoying. If I want to play it, I'll install it. There is no need to have it remade several times.jeff wrote:It is time to move from the H3 model, it was becoming boring by the time SOD was released, though I did buy all of the chronicles. And Heroes 4 was probably ignored during Heroes 5's development because, you know. Desecration of the series, it sucks and so on. (not that I agree with it, quite the opposite)

Its a shame that Heroes IV is ignored in such a way. The game was so cohesive and fun despite being unfinished.
I really wish that the next Heroes game would draw upon all of the successful elements from past Heroes games. Heroes V gets blamed for trying to remake Heroes III, and Heroes VI gets blamed for trying to remake Heroes V. I love H3's realism, H4's magic system, H5's skill system, and H6's graphics and music. Why can't I just have all of them in one game?
@chimthegrim
I wasn't attacking you directly. Did you mean the old Blizzard Entertainment motto? Because Blizzard doesn't give us what we want these days, unfortunately.
