H6 Add-on Announced, Patch 1.5 Coming
<img src="/images/news/newshorn.jpg" align=left vspace=5 hspace=5>Ubisoft have just announced <i>Pirates of the Savage Sea</i>, the first add-on for <i>Might & Magic: Heroes VI</i>, on their <a href="/http://might-and-magic.ubi.com/heroes-6 ... ">official page</a>. Taking place one year after the events of the game, <i>Pirates</i> sees the much-wanted return of <b>Crag Hack</b>.
According to the announcement, the add-on will contain +10 hours of gameplay (how do they measure that, anyway?), a new dynasty weapon (if you like that sort of thing) and more artefacts. I am also told that the actual <i>writing</i> this time will be done by Julien Pirou (aka. "Marzhin"), which should at least improve the quality of the story compared to that of the campaigns.
Also in the announcement: <b>Patch 1.5</b> is scheduled for <b>July 12th</b> and will feature the <b>Town Screen</b>. What is particularly funny is the wording of this on the official page:
<i>"Did you know that the very first Town screen appeared in Heroes I and became an important hallmark feature? Town screens are one of Heroes’ game-core pillars."</i>
As if they knew all along and we didn't. <img src="/images/smiles/rolling_eyes.gif">

H6 Add-on Announced, Patch 1.5 Coming
Judging from the fact that the add-on is less than a month away, it's safe to assume that the only added content will be what has been already mentioned. Sounds like a single campaign, hence we only get 4-5 new maps. If this is the case, 10 euros seems way too expensive. I'd rather wait for a full expansion pack, which will hopefully bring more factions.

Ya, the DLC thing has me very much turned off, but my interest has been rekindled since you mentioned that Marzhin will be doing it. I guess I'll wait to see if people say that it is worth the price.

If he didnt' the artists are now dead, so it's a moot question.

Townsscreens? Wauw, finally what we've wanted all along, but the game is still as boring as a drying paintbucked. But will give it another try, perhaps this patch will make the game more fun...

Funny you mention Chuck Norris, since he was absolutely not part of the references for Crag
(and by the way, the Crag of Ashan lacks several chins to really look like Chuck ^^)

Seeing we were conned in buying a beta version which still isn't fixed this should be for free

I'm not a big fan of the eye-patch, as I think it removes some of the character (don't ask why) .
Overall though, I am happy that things seem to be back in motion, even though 10€ is a bit steep. Financial issues aside, more content is always welcome, and this is a good start.

Will the sales of this add-on be affected by piracy?

I have put up a poll on it. Please vote as to whether you will buy the "Pirates" add-on, maybe, or not.

@ArmageddonSM
If you had to make a list of HoM iconic features that Heroes 6 didn't include or improve, town screens would be way low on it. Yeah I loved the old town screens, but I also love less loading and faster gameplay.
@pitsu
Actually Chuck Norris altered the concept art through sheer force of will.
I also have to agree that I am glad the content is still rolling, and I am also glad that they didn't go with the cliche 1-year expansion and decided to take it in small steps - at least for the time being. I would much rather pay for a small add-on that I know will occupy me during the summer than have to wait for a year to get an expansion that may or may not be relevant to my gaming interests.

CloudRider, you are... refreshing!
1.5 is the first balance patch, how could they seriously release a full expansion at the same time? That would ruin the balance to which they are applying a first patch.
