List of Skill Quests / Barrels BDJ

Unread postby nublard » 16 Feb 2012, 21:40

I was hoping to compile information about the BDJ / Maestro mod.
It seems one thing that people are particularly frustrated with is investing skill points only to find a skill barrel / quest later.

Anyone know which quests / barrels offer skills?

Here is what I've found so far:

1) Bodybuilding Barrel: Castle Harmondale
2) ID Monster: Barrel on roof in Steadwick
3) Merchant: Temple of the Moon (IIRC)

4) Quest to grant Fire Magic 8: Go to Barrow downs

Any details on the quest?

  • By ID Monster, you mean Identify Item, I take it.
  • The Barrow Downs has a barrel that teaches Expert Repair Item.
  • The Red Dwarf Mines has a barrel that teaches Expert Learning.
  • Stone City has a barrel that teaches Expert Perception.
  • When you do a class change (do not do this until everyone is fully promoted in their first class), anyone eligible to learn Expert Fire Magic gets it free.
  • You can also get Dark Magic for free eventually, but you cannot normally get it otherwise. This doesn't happen until pretty late in the game.
4) Quest to grant Fire Magic 8: Go to Barrow downs

Any details on the quest?
That one takes a long time to be able to do at all -- you'll have to do without Expert Fire Magic for a long time. I had Master Water Magic and Master Air Magic well before that. It's involved enough that it's scattershot in my current notes. I won't give details because there are too many of them.

About Fire Magic only

If I'm not mistake, you only must kill several dragons in Emerald Isle cave. I obtain Fire Expert 8 after first thief promoution - Thief got this improvement of Fire. I think you can complete this quest early in the game, if you have pretty good armor/weapon, several high-level wands and if you don't affraid dragons))) If I'm mistake - sorry, I forgot connection with Barrows and this quest.
