It seems to depend , but i've had the enemy attack a lot early on as well, especially in my first run through this on normal , they can come from 5 different direction too which is the most difficult, and this is one of the few where they utilized town portal well (if you come close with bigger army they'll tp back home). Esepically if you don't know the map well and don't go after Town E early you'll get plenty of trouble as Haijing is super vunerable to surprise attacks from gates or underground or town E.

Please - you did not mention set artifacts that can be collected in this mission. You need to add that info. I think they are static, i.e. some of them are on a specific map location (guarded by neutrals) and some can be gotten by completing a certain objective (conquer a town/hero/etc).
How do you upgrade Snow Maidens??

Honestly, I haven't figured out how to open a campaign scenario with the editor, so I don't have the set artifacts' location readily available and can't confirm whether any particular artifact will always spawn. Good news for Haven and Sanctuary is that we can easily buy the most powerful artifact for every part, and together they will be more powerful than the often low-quality set artifacts and their crappy bonuses.

Found some very good information from the official forum - here comes a list of artifact sets that may be completed in each campaign.
Necropolis: Magister, Vagrant, Warlord
Haven: Guardian, Prophet
Sanctuary: Prophet, Guardian
Inferno: Trickster, Warlord, Magister
Stronghold: Warlord, Regent, Prophet
Artifact sets that appear only once: Regent (Stronghold), Trickster (Inferno).
So if you missed any piece in the above campaigns, you will be missing achievements.

RollingWave, I found out you can - but only after taking the last town (which Hiroshi is in). The only battle after taking that last town is with some necro units on a small island. When you beat the necro units, you get the non-carry-over artifact and then the mission ends.

Hmm, you said "Walk in and win", but for me the mission did not end - I had to beat up some Necro units on a small island below the last town where Hiroshi was. Hiroshi told me I have to defeat the Necros and then disappeared, but the mission did not end.

I see. In my game I cleaned up the Necro units before talking to Hiroshi. That's probably why. I'll update the walkthrough.

Yeah, I don't think there is such a way. Just kill the Haven hero to continue.

I killed one of the major enemy heroes; in the very next round, she was re-hired with 2 throngs and a 3rd large army for a rating of high. Game AI cheats. Anyone know what the cheat codes are, so I can level the playing field?

ugh. I wish they had left Changbo without his skill points assigned. 2 points in water power... for a might hero. His special is based on unlimited counterstrike, but there are no points in any counterstrike based skill...
whoever designed that was an idiot, or else they just did the magic hero (if you went blood) first, and just gave changbo the same skills.
