Happy Independence Day Finland
Yes, happy Independence Day Finland. May we all celebrate your 92th year of formal independence with a smile on our faces, and a hand in friend's hand merrily raising a toast for your continuing prosperity and well-being.
Long live national independence, the Sisu and sauna! I salute thee! Down with international "sui generis" organizations with yellow stars on a blue field.
Down with oligarchy and secret societies, long live honesty and the right for
self-determination.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Pony trekking or camping,
Or just watching TV.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
It's the country for me.
You're so near to Russia,
So far from Japan,
Quite a long way from Cairo,
Lots of miles from Vietnam.
Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Eating breakfast or dinner,
Or snack lunch in the hall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.
You're so sadly neglected
And often ignored,
A poor second to Belgium,
When going abroad.
Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I quite want to be,
Your mountains so lofty,
Your treetops so tall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.

@BB: Thanks. Well ya know, that fireworks and picnics does sound a lot like some foreign thing All we do is watch the President's Independence Day gala reception from the TV, hoist and salute the flag and then have a good time going out with friends and enjoying oodles of drinks together.
As for that going bankrupt stuff, yeah I hear you buddy. It sucks being forced to live hard times due to some people's endless greed and speculation on the stock market goin all overboard. We have seen it here too, you know.
@Ethric: You just gotta love that song. Thumbs up and trousers down for the Pythons' masterful comedy!
@Kalah: I do feel sorry for that poor sauna you just destroyed... Have you people no manners? (lol, it was a good one!)

Happy Independence Day Dear Finland
Yes, it's that time of the year again...
Happy 93rd Independence Day Finland!
Down with the United States of Europe!
Due the political climate here going for the worse all the time, I might as well say happy Dependency Day. The EU holds the real power, so yeah Happy Dependency Day to us Finns once again.
(To the American reading this: Finland is nowadays something of a Kansas to the EU, not the best attempt at reaching decent analogy, but something to compare with on a Federal vs State level debate)
Yes, Kalah this is one of the "few" overly political posts of mine that tests your goodwill. Sorry for that.

I thought the Finns are independent from earlier than that... anyhow cheer up.

Thanks everyone for showing support in my one man-quest to challenge the authority of the Evil Empire in my beloved Finland. I'm sorry if I managed to piss off some of you people with that Kansas comment. The fact is that I still find that analogy to be quite fitting. Anyway, let's hope for a brighter future to fall upon us all.

Happy 94th Independence Day Finland!
This is the last year Tarja Halonen will be receiving guests in the official presidential residence as the President of the Republic of Finland as her term will end in March 2012. Interesting elections are sure to follow as we have two staunch anti-EU candidates amongst the seven who are seeking the office. I personally wish that the more moderate one of the two will succeed to the presidency. Happy 6th of December everyone!
