Thor Hushovd won his 10th stage win in the Tour de France today, by beating his fellow Norwegian Edvald Boasson Hagen in the sprint on the 16th stage to Gap.

That's the first time a Norwegian has won this particular stage, the first time ever that two Norwegians finish 1st and 2nd in a TdF stage, and I should also note that the guy who came in third (Ryder Hesjedal) is of Norwegian descent.

In short. Norwegians rule.

The American announcers are calling it the Tour de Norway now. I don't think the god of thunder is getting the maillot jaune back though.

BTW, you seriously need to put a spoiler alert on those posts. I watch the evening re-broadcasts of each stage because the live broadcast goes through my work hours. When I saw you had another post today in this thread I made sure to not open it. But when Boasson Hagen had the lead on the final descent today, I said, "I bet he wins this. Kalah won't be able to resist posting on two consecutive Norwegian stage wins."

Wondered about that too. The police shooting someone is unfortunate, but half the city going to war over it doesn't seem very british.

Might that be that people just want to prove that the current security is not enough to London to keep their Olympic Games? It just happened so ominously after that lunatic on Norway wreaking havoc...

It probably has more to do with the general feeling amongst the British public at the moment; high unemployment and rising taxes in the wake of the finance crisis and fewer benefits have really raised the tension. Add to this that the social differences in Britain are the highest in Europe and that criminal gangs are probably pouring fuel on the fire, we get mass riots.

Back to random, I'd like to share my facebook profile to add some of you guys, just to have word from you from times to times and also learn about this and that. I have found only Lety there.

And taking advantage from this post, I got a newspaper with a friend of mine as a football player. Can someone tell be what the news is about? I'm not sure, but I think it's from Finnland or Sweden.

I'm not on Facebook. It was cool for a while, especially with the class reunion some years back ... but then it just got boring and I signed off entirely.

The paper is Finnish but the text is Swedish (many Finns speak Swedish - it's what they call Finland-Swedish; no kidding). It's a sports report and the headline says "hat-trick not enough for win". The article sums up the 3-3 match between the teams KTP and Futura.

It's a report from a game that ended 3-3, where one player scored a hat trick. Seems to be from Finland, and one of the higher divisions.

Vini usually plays with us when he's in Brazil, like from October to March. He's a very good player (well, compared to the rest of us might not be a compliment, but he is good), however we somehow don't go hard on him because we don't want him injured to play back at Europe, so in spite of his own abilities, there's this plus of "air shield" aura we cast upon him.

I'm not really sure which division he plays for. I thought it was the second division. This is the first time I see a newspaper cut from him. Hat trick is fancy. I don't recall he doing that against us.
