Lost all saves

A computer glitch,bug,virus or something ate and/or moved a bunch of my files. I lost 5 desktop folders and the ones not lost were emptied, among other things. I was in Campaign 5 starting Mission 3 and now my Load list is empty. Is there a way to get the saves back or somewhere to search for them. I have found some of desktop folder files in "Recent Changes" and a few of Favorites ,all wiped out, I found in History. System Restore didn't help anything. Any advice?

It would be easier to reinstall and download a saved game (with all campaigns unlocked) from the Web and resume playing from there. If you really caught a virus, fixing the damage won't be easy, if possible at all.

I downloaded the unlock mod and extracted C2,3,4,5,6XBD files to Own/Doc/Mygames/Heroes of Might and Magic V(4995) Profiles, where there was a HallofFameSAV file. Campaigns did not unlock even with a Restart. What did I do wrong?

I don't think you need to extract it, just paste it your 'maps' folder iirc

I opened Map Editor, went up to file,open and got Open HoMM Resource. Pasted "Unlock Campaigns" folder here. Campaigns did not unlock.
