We continue our campaign to get some numbers to go with your opinions - or latest poll concerns the state of the creatures revealed so far.

Yes, we are aware that you don't know a lot about them yet, and yes, we are aware that any impression you might have at this point may change as more info comes out ... but don't come here and tell me that you haven't got an opinion. That's the one we're interested in at this point.

Vote in our poll (scroll down to the left to find it) and tell us what you think about the lineup - a high number if you like them, a low number if you don't. We'd like at least 100 votes, please - rest assured the devs will see the results.

There are some really good ones, but there is also a lot of waste. I voted 4. Maybe I am a bit too harsh with it, but it is mostly because I am biased between the art and the 3D models - some creatures look WAY better as sketches (Pit Lords), others look better as 3D models (Kappa, Cyclops) and there the ones that are plain AWFUL (Skellies, Glories, Harpies, Ghouls... just to name a few :ill: ). I guess I will be able to be more precise when the game is out, but so far this is my opinion.

I thought the lineup's perfect... well, almost. I only have distaste for the Inferno lineup (seems like too many melee), but I barely played them anyway in HOMM III-V, so I'm very happy with the rest (based on current information).

I love the influx of female units- still wish that the original HOMM II Medusa came back. Favourite units are: Fate Weaver/Spinner, Glories, Harpies, and the Yukis. :p

3 - Personally, I think most of them are way too detailed and kind of out of place. If you can't look at one of these pictures without immediately recognizing what it is, something is slightly wrong. Also, many of them are awkwardly designed. Their bodies are hunched over and contorted, and most of them have way too many augmentations to their shape/body.

Individually, that makes them pretty damn cool! But not altogether.

I voted "1" (worst).

Judging by the artwork, the visual designs of most creatures are so over-the-top that they prevent me from taking the game world very seriously. This is especially sad because I felt so "at home" in the classical fantasy style of the original four games.

I can sum up the reasons for my dislike of the new art style in one sentence: The creatures look *embellished* and *adorned* but highly unbelievable (and yes, even fantasy creatures *can* look believable).

Yeah JSE, I completely agree that most of them are quite over the top. However, my favorite is the third one, the glowing blue lady with long white hair (I forget what unit she is). That unit's graphic would have been classic in any other Heroes of Might & Magic game!

i thought there won't be any dragons...

i agree that many of them are too detailed. maybe the skeletons should be plainer? they're the basic unit after all. the naga warrior looks hilarious. i, for one, think it's much better if they're as plain as the naga in homm4..

The only creature I like is the priestess in the haven class. Other then that, there is not much I like, so I give a rating of 2. I am a fan of the 2d art that was used in heroes IV and below.

4 - I personally like the Haven units best due to the fact that they seem to be the best, design- and graphic-wise, match to the era and period in which the H6 game takes place. Sanctuary is 2nd due to my personal love of the Eastern arts and design to which they ascribe.

As for the others; I agree with JSE and MMX regarding the over-the-top nature of their designs. None more so than the Inferno units. With spikes and embellishments everywhere one can stick them, sometimes a more minimalistic approach is best

Voted 4, between some great and horrible looking units this was my average. I voted on the 3d models, not the concept art.

4- I'm in the same boat as many of you. Which actually surprised me, I thought I'd be in the minority for some reason! The 3D models are a bit more detailed than I care for; they look good (for the most part) but this is a strategy game, I need easy unit recognition and purpose, fast/smooth gameplay, etc. After the first 20 minutes, I will NEVER be zoomed in on individual units either. I would rather see time and effort going into the gameplay, strategies, balancing, etc.,.. but then again, I guess the graphics department aren't responsible for those things.. at least I sure hope not lol.

So anyway, since I'm mostly impartial to the creatures at this point that's why I voted 4. if they all end up having balanced stats, skills/spells, and purpose, then of course I would vote 6. But if they just end up being highly detailed models that don't serve a clear purpose and suck for gameplay, then I'd vote 1 :P

Also, on the given scale, voted 4.

Every creature can't be the best and I guess it will not be - but the current information doesn't confirm so. Although, the screenshots hinted a very little. Still far from making a decisive assumption to change my decision.

So for now, it's sealed. :D

PS More voters please come, come by! Just eighty-five now.^

Voted 4 too. I was tempted to only vote 3 because some of the creatures look rather forced & overdone. Some like the Kappa look almost ridiculous. :loll:

Still overall, I have a favorable impression with most of the creatures, so I voted a 4. :hoo:

The kappa may look stupid but it's great compared to the H5 gargoyle.. that thing looked like a cheap kinder surprise toy.

Most artwork is decent, but nothing spectacular.

Stronghold 2

Haven 4

Inferno 4 (because of the Succubus, otherwise 3)

Necropolis 3 (I miss the Bela Lugosi-type Vampire Lords of H2!)

Sanctuary 3 (because of the Kappa)

all in all: an average 3 (where are the Black Dragons?)

I too vote 4.

Over the top? Maybe, but the art is there so I can accept this aspect. However, JSE raises a very valid point-- the excess embellishments and adornments will make it difficult to get the kind of immersion that has been a strong point in the original four games.

Strategic value and unique game play? YES! That IS the most important aspect, yet it is the very thing we know least about. In this case, the proof of the pudding will most definitely be in the eating. I personally will withhold my final vote until I emerge from the battlefield.

This should have been a 1-5 poll, so i could have give them exactly the middle number... as it stands i gave them a 3... still too much of an attept at being flashy...

4 is the middle grade. 1 isn't a passing grade.
