You would never guess, it is a script for rpg maker vx. Turns it into 3d. So, it wouldn't be too difficult to change things around for my game. I can use the scripts I have already made and easily implement it into this. It really does bring the Might and Magic feel. More like MM4-5 and Wizardry rather than MM6.

I will be working on my top view version because I have spent decades mapping it, and it would be shame to see the maps vanish. However, Might and Magic is my main goal, so with this new script it is going to open alot of doors. I am going to spend the next few days working with it. So far, I like what I see. It is the closest to what I want.

The script is in Japanese, but here is the link:

If anyone needs any help using this script let me know, I think I figured out the majoirty of it.

Yes, I agree with you to finish the top down version, I really
want to see your work :)

I used at past some scripts for rpg maker xp but I was never
really skillful with them(mostly just copy-paste or many minor
adjustments), but I would really like to see an english version,
I will search for one too, if you know where to find one would
be great.

Btw, keep up the good work, can't wait to see more news
for the LoE :-D

Thanks,

What I will do, is I will translate the 3d script myself and post it here.

I have already converted the first town to the 3d script.

Yes the old pics made it look like a Dragon Quest game...

I wouldn't mind a remake of the engine for World of Xeen as long as the game remains in turn based.... :)

Here is another screenshot of a temple. I have now converted one town and 2 dungeons.

The combat is turned based. It is also easy to make enemies on the ground or random encounters. Finding treasure is also much more exciting and hidden.

Have you tested the "balance" as far as the classes go? I really like taking all the same class.

So far I have played as the Paladin, Archer, Cleric, and Knight. It seems pretty balanced.

I'm still more interested in 2D version. Is the 3D version gonna have smooth movement and turns or the old style immediate 1 square steps and 90 degrees turns? I find movement in games like MM1-5 very frustrating, although I'm sure I would get used to it if I actually play them.:)
My patches: MM6 MM7 MM8. MMExtension. Tools. Also, I love Knytt Stories and Knytt Underground. I'm also known as sergroj.

I am converting the maps from the 2d version to the 3d. It is a little different, but I got a few done. I am working on both, I am not giving up on the 2d version. I still have LOE Tactics which I am working on as well as the sideview battle system.

Well, beta testing through what I have so far of LOE RPG has gone well. Everything in my view seems to be well balanced, challenging, and fun. I get the feel of Might and Magic, in 2d of course.

I think I tackled most of the remaining bugs that were hidden in the the game. I think basically all I have left to do is to complete the story and finish the remaining side quests. I already have the main duingeons completed. One thing I will be working on is the training. It has been a bit since I played Might and Magic, but I am going to implement the same training per level process eventually.

As far as the 3d version goes, I am still converting the maps, it will take a bit of time, but it is looking promising. I have already converted all of the major cities and a few dungeons.

Thanks, Lord13. I appreciate all of the positive feeback. These last few years I have been longing for a game like Might and Magic VI-VIII, but no company has made such a game. So, I have indeed put all my efforts and skills into trying to create the same kind of experience through LOE. With the new 3D script it brings a different light. I have created a few more levels from the 2D. However, I beleive the 2D version is better in my own opinion. It offers much more for exploration. In reality, Might and Magic is a rogue like game but in 3D. 2D brings that experience just as great. So, my focus is still gonna be on 2D, and gradually the 3d will emerge.

Small question/suggestion: Why does Learning raise Wisdom and Meditation raise Intelligence? Seems to me the reverse would make more sense.

Thanks for the feedback. I forgot to update the descriptions. It is no longer like that. Meditation just helps increase mana only. Learning helps increase exp only. Just like in M&M, Wisdom is for clerics, paladin, and druids. Intellect is for Archers, Sorcerors, and Druids. In the beginning I was just trying to experiment with balancing the game out.

Training for Levels Implemented

Unread postby legendoferthia » 21 Sep 2010, 10:02

Wells some more good news. As mentioned earlier I was going to add the training based method for leveling up. Today, I completed the script for that. Characters now have to pay for their levels and have the appropiate experience.

3D Version Preformance Optimized

Unread postby legendoferthia » 25 Sep 2010, 05:10

I don't mean to spam this topic, but I am getting a lot of progress done these days. Today, I have added an important update to the 3D version of the game.

One of the biggest frustrations for me when working with the 3d script was the preformance. Large maps with lots of events would just slow down the game to a point where it was bairly playable.

The good news is that I did some customization with the 3d script and added my own script. After making these changes, the game made a huge difference in preformance.

I can now have extremely large maps such as the town of Etherberg without any slow down.

Massive Update

Unread postby legendoferthia » 25 Sep 2010, 22:58

Well, I spent a while today setting up more things to the 3D Version to the game. The combat has been changed back to the ATB battle system which means more excitement. I have completed the use of the Disarm skill for disarming traps in chests and such. I have also added the barrels. Drinking from barrels will increase a random stat for a selected hero. Again, the preformance is great and has no lag. I have added some more screenshots in my first posting.
