Question about skills and attributes in Might & Magic VI

Unread postby Saxon1974 » 16 Feb 2010, 00:55

Do attributes affect skills in this game?

For example;

Would a character with a high personality be more effective with the diplomacy skill than one with a lower personality?

It says personality determines clerical and druid spells points but I dont see any mention of personality affecting the diplomacy skill but it seems like it would.

Same thing for disarm traps, should a character with a high luck use that skill?

No, they don't. But, for example, if you use a high luck character to disarm traps, they will get hit by the trap for less damage should it be triggered. So the only thing that statistics do is what you see when you right-click on them, and also trainers can sometimes request one or another statistics level.

Not only traps. Luck simply increases resistances and decreases chance of bad conditions. I haven't found any trap-specific Luck influence. See my site for some MM formulas.
My patches: MM6 MM7 MM8. MMExtension. Tools. Also, I love Knytt Stories and Knytt Underground. I'm also known as sergroj.

Thanks for the reply, nice work Grayface.

I have been hearing Diplomacy is a useless skill. True?

Yeap, all it does is let you get NPCs a little quicker - not worth spending points on when you can actually master magics and other things like that.
