Unread postby 4ever0 » 25 Dec 2007, 13:34

It uses its own format for fonts.
My patches: MM6 MM7 MM8. MMExtension. Tools. Also, I love Knytt Stories and Knytt Underground. I'm also known as sergroj.

I've got similar question, but about MM7. First, I'm not using English language version, but Polish. And I've noticed, that in earlier edition of the game were different font, probably original one. In new editions - also of MM8 - were another font, probably Arial or something like that. And I want to ask how to extract font from this earlier version and import into new one, and maybe even into MM8 too.
My English is not perfect, sorry.

I already know that I should use MM8LevelEditor. But I don't know which file is a game font. :P Especially, if files used in MM7 and MM8 are a bit different, and in MM7 it's less intuitive.

While the fonts are probably identical between MM6, MM7, and MM8, I never took the time to decode the format into a standard font, so MM8LevelEditor doesn't understand them. So you probably need to use Stormcat's MM7Viewer -- I can't remember the exact name, but that's the only app that understands MM fonts that I know of.

Simply sort files by extension in mm8leveleditor and export FNT files. MM7View can show fonts, so you can find the font you need with it.

Well, I've used MM7View and I've figured out that file "arrus.fnt" is slightly different between those two editions of MM7, and "lucida.fnt" doesn't even work in new one (MM7View was unable to load it). I've tried to replace those files with versions from earlier edition, and...

Original font from new edition: 1, 2, 3, 4

Replaced font: 1, 2, 3, 4

So, I think I've got what I wanted. Great thanks for help. :)

I've also tried to use this solution in MM8, but MM8LevelEditor refuses to work - "No matching LOD entry" information.

Open a bug report for MM8LevelEditor.
I don't know if I'll ever get to fixing it, but it definitely won't happen if you don't document the problem. It might eventually get fixed in the new MMLevelEditor I'm working on if I see an open bug report for it, but MM8 and fonts are probably a couple years down the road at best.

Silly(?) question: How can I open a bug report? I've put LevelEditor directly into MM8 folder and I don't know that the "ErrorLog.txt" file is this bug report or not.

If yes, then - oddly - there are even no actual entries. Latest has a 29-01-2010 date.

Go to this url and enter one.

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_i ... tid=631880

I don't remember if that file is generated by the editor or not, but go ahead and attach it. If it's not relevant, I'll just ignore it.

ErrorLog.txt is generated by my patch. It keeps errors that happen in M&M.
