Hehe, I really did like the film but I wouldn't go as far as naming it as the coolest film of all time. The visual effects are just stunning and most importantly, NOT synthetic, but the story of morality, the happy ending and deaths of all those excessive characters like the lady in the chopper - all of that has been seen zillion times.Milla aka. the Slayer wrote:Avatar 3D: OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As i said somewhere else, it's like they put a bunch of standard plots in a hat and drew one.

Well yeah, the plot is rather stolen from Pocahontas...but the effects blew me awayarturchix wrote:Hehe, I really did like the film but I wouldn't go as far as naming it as the coolest film of all time. I'm guessing they're talking about his furry aliens fetish which he probably has been working on for years...

What? Who didn't like "Dances with Aliens" in 3D?
Personally, I just got the Underworld series on DVD for Christmas. Finally getting around to watching. I enjoy seeing people in rubber suits again. While I was amazed at the CGI work in Avatar, it's always nice to take a step backward and see stuff done Old School. Now, I really need to see the Mr. Fox stop action flick.

Who said we didn't like it... we were just discussing the stock plot they used.

LOL. That's maybe the main reason why I couldn't give the movie more than 8/10. I just happen to have seen Pocahontas a couple of weeks before I went to Avatar. Big "mistake", because all I could see was just Pocahontas in 3D, with more modern weaponry, hotter natives, but uglier creatures ('cause man were they ugly, especially those 6-legged horses & wild dogs).

Just saw "The Terminal" with Tom Hanks. It was a very touching story, great acting and for once in an American movie, the ending didn't suck. Thumbs up, Spielberg
Also saw Blade Runner earlier. That was a more strange movie. And it striked me as odd that Harrison Ford plays such a quiet character...twasn't bad or anything though..

The best thing about that movie is the soundtrack, followed by the special effects. Everything else indeed sucks. So your only chance to enjoy at least half of it, is to see it in the cinema (or at least some sort of wide screen + nice surround sound). The movie had potential, but acting is bad, dialogues (irregardless of acting) are terrible and the last thing that spoiled the movie was the casting. For half the characters they made very bad choices.Kalah wrote:Transformers was just on telly so I got to see it. It was actually quite bad. No, no, let me rephrase: it actually sucked. "Golf ball through twenty feet of garden hose" level.

Link seems to be already down. Did somebody save it by any chance? It was a pretty good one.
EDIT: Found another one - http://images.huffingtonpost.com/gen/13 ... iginal.jpg (I guess it's actually spread enough, so I shouldn't have worried :p)
EDIT2: Few days later, the links seems to be up again... oh well.
