Well maybe "Futuremark" didn't do any research on SF but there are many people who have posted their own first-hand experiences of the damage SF did to their computers. Analouge's SF Discussions Forum

Fine, I just find it funny how these first-hand experiences have to be supported by research made by independent companies - which in the end turn out to be constructed. You know, if a scientist did that, it would discredit all his work.

It's only a detail that was misunderstood, the info doesn't come from stardock but from stardock's forum. I first read it in a french article and there was no mistake on that point.

Anyway I'd like to know more about that possible reboot issue.

i wouldnt adwise you to install starforce if you play games without starforce, as starforce does slow down your computer considrably.
It wont harm your drives however, but it will make your computer go to slowly to play many of the other new games without lag.

Well I didn't have a grudge against them before, but now, their bad PR is simply getting at me. First there was this admin in their forum who posted a link to a torrent for galactic civilization IV and now this: http://www.star-force.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=841

Simply shows how laughable is this company lol. Making an own review of their product appear as if it was made by some independent review group lol. I'm hesitating now to buy Heroes V. I really want the game, but I'd hate to support companies like Starforce.

Man... putting that good old communist propaganda writing to good use! That really really reads awfully, I really do feel like I'm back in the USSR.

From PC PowerPlay:

"Replying to a post about Galactic Civilizations II selling well despite not using copy protection, a StarForce employee under the username "JM" provided a link to a pirate copy of the game saying, "Right now several thousands of people are downloading the pirated version only from that web-site. Is it good for the sales? Unlikely. Good game would surely have the high sales rate without the copy protection, but not because of that."

"The link was soon removed but not before the developers of Galactic Civ managed to take a screenshot of it."

"A couple of days later, Galactic Civilizations II went on to top EB's PC sales charts in the US, indicating that a lack of StarForce didn't hurt it too much."

And: "US publishers of Spellforce 2 also announced that the retail version of their game will NOT feature StarForce, in its region, after the less than glowing response to the copy protection being used on the demo. It seems that, sometimes, Force is not the right approach."

Your poll is biased my friend. :) But it was worth a shot I guess. I'm afraid it's too late and we will have to live with Starforce in Heroes V. Ubisoft isn't going to go back now, a few weeks before the release.

Their loss. Treating their fans like criminals, when Stardock has shown just how much support good games get when people are not treated like criminals, and have a secure site for registering.

People who download the game and don't register get only the game.

Those who do register get heaps of extra content and features and excellent support.

Anyone who pays the cost of registering at the secure site gets all the extra features.

I believe HodgePodge is the happiest of all! A little disappointed maybe, because not much left to flame Ubi

No disappointment here. I'm ecstatic! Image I haven't been "flaming" UbiSoft lately. I just kinda resigned myself to not playing Heroes V … but now … I'm looking forward to playing the game.

Of course. The only thing holding me back was StarForce. Now that that obstacle is out of the way … Heroes V, Heroes V, Heroes V!

Thanks Znork for all your efforts getting SF out of Heroes V.

(P.S.) They're not kidding about this are they? :)

The funny thing is that the Starforce celebration thread on the official forum is turning into flames. Anti-SF activists have been called pirates by a member of the community... :disagree:
