Thanks,

I just created a random map to try the Drwarves out. I think they're pretty pathetic! C'mon, they're dwarves for goodness sake! they hit like sprites! I think they should have made them much tougher, but have far less of them, to keep balance.

..and why Fire Dragons with Dwarves?? They're in a winter landscape. Why not a yeti, or even better, a war machine? Shame shame..

I agree the dwarves are mostly crap, save the thunder thanes which rock. The fire dragon was a lore choice I think seeing as how the dwarves worship the dragon god of fire Arkath iirc. I was hoping for a dragon golem like in H4 myself with a bit more technology added in like cannons or something that would have rocked. Fortress really was a waste of 1000 good ideas.

they life in icy cold so they kinda started to like the warmth of fire ^_^

no srsly, "normally" dwarfes life underground and use the magma there for forging and stuff, it kinda makes sence

by the way, fortess is the strongest faction in the game

That would make for a weird forge just a sleeping fire dragon and some anvils. Just poke the dragon to make the metal hot again I bet it'll love that.

Ill rephrase my earlier statement, I think most of their units are crap teirs 1-4 just scream to me meeeeeehhhh, teirs 5 and 6 are good and 7 is just another dragon and a very ugly one at that sure it has that annoying lesser fire wall thing going but still meh. What the dwarves really have going for them are runes pretty much nuff said.

Yeah, that's what I'm seeing. 1-4 is crap. I have 80+ shiel guards and they can't hit worth a.. well crap. I don't they can guard worth a crap either, and I've been using them for pretty much that.

Shame on the Russians again. Could someone send them a copy of LotR? They need to watch Gimli for a while.

For a teir 1 they defend like a beast to bad that doesnt mean much, I will give them this 200 or so of those take a loooong while to kill. I dont blame the russians I blame whoever rushed the expac out the door it came out what 3-4 months after the original.

But working on new stuff is so much more profitable besides you give them better units and then you hage to deal with awesome low teir units + runes and likely light magic that wont be pretty. Also I never said they wanted to correct it.

Well, hopefully some savvy folk and make a little mod at some point and make it right.

defenders don't pack much of a punch indeed, but they exist to... defend, just put them around your skirmishers and abuse crippling wound
if there's rune of charge in your rune guild get bear riders

the power of fortess is not the ability to deal a lot of damage like inferno, but their high defense, besides with runes they will win every major battle

True it also makes berserkers that much more out of place. Still that turtle play style just begs for a nice fireball/meteorstorm. Even if they are bloody hard to kill I stick by my earlier statement asbout the fortress as a whole meeeehhh. They should have a siege cannon instead of the harpooners much more interesting.

I forget to use the runes in almost every battle. Also how do I recharge the Runes I've used. Do I have to go back to the Castle over night?

The battles are going well without them though. I have a good spell line-up and... Thane = insane!

The priests are also nice with being able to hit 2 targets. I guess I just need to figure out classes work best.

I have not even tried the Orcs yet...

You dont need to recharge runes once learned youre set. If you mean stuff about runes in battle Im not sure but I think its normally 1 of each rune per creature per combat before you need to use the ability greater run or refresh rune but im not a fortress expert and I try to use as few runes as possible to conserve reasources.

Orcs are sweet as long as you make sure to keep the rage up. Also poor goblins poor poor goblins.

well of course there's no point in spamming runes you don't really need, but rune of charge can make a huge difference when you are able to hit those arcane archers the first turn
