Extracting Sound in HOMMV?

Unread postby PetiePal » 07 Dec 2009, 18:53

Possible to extract the sound in HOMMV like was done with previous games? The only utility I saw was for HOMM 1-IV, and I remember using that one before. Anything similar for the newest iteration?

Open the sounds .pak with WinRar and start extracting, then rename the extension-less files to .wav. The problem is that H5's sounds use UIDs instead of simple names, so it's ridiculously tough to tell which sound is which. (you'll see what I mean when you open the .pak file.) To determine which ones you want, you need to browse around data.pak, find the right UID and extract the corresponding file.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did putz around in them but I saw those crazy long number and letter files and wasn't sure if that was them!

I'll have to extract them all and piece out the ones I want just like I did with HOMM3. All 1000 of them ;P
