HoMM I is quite nice, but not very memorable.
The HoMM II themes tend to be a bit grating for my ears at times; I suppose cacophony makes sense in a chaotic faction, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. However, I do like parts of these
themes.
HoMM III is quite appealing when it's more controlled and tuned down, much like HoMM II.
The HoMM IV theme is definitely not among my favourite HoMM IV tunes, but I really like the beginning and end.
I think the music of HoMM V is strangely fitting. The dark elves meditate in the stillness and tranquility of the cave before going out and filling the sky with lightning and what have you. Not memorable, though.
Probably one of my least favourite factions, music-wise, I'll go with HoMM IV, reluctantly, with HoMM III as my second choice.

HoMM3. HoMM1 was ridiculous, it's ways too happy for a Warlock town (and they are evil), HoMM2 is better, but the opera part is a little too loud. PoL is a close second, the music sounds threatening enough, but again the opera is a little too loud for me. HoMM3 is very nice, if you look into the shadows of the town while listening to the music at night, it gets really frightening... HoMM4 fits the Asylum theme, but I like Warlock idea better. And finally HoMM5, while not bad, I don't hear anything too special there.

It's not when you consider that many aspects of HoMM I are very much playful and full of color and lightheartedness. Just look at gargoyles and dragons, for example. They are not supposed to be the typical, serious creatures from mythology. If anything, they are caricatures of those stereotypical creatures, and I am thankful for that.GreatEmerald wrote:HoMM1 was ridiculous, it's ways too happy for a Warlock town (and they are evil),

Yes, that's true, NWC continued their Terra/XEEN cartoonish theme, which is admittedly pretty nice, but still, that's evil we're talking aboutMetathron wrote:It's not when you consider that many aspects of HoMM I are very much playful and full of color and lightheartedness. HommIV. It's a nice, unique theme. It fits the old universe quite perfectly(I just couldn't have this theme played in HOMMV), not to mention the epicness at certain points in the song.

Imagine all those places in reality - Heroes 2 an 3 towns would be the only ones logically build. All Heroes 4 cities are build like in a single line, does not make any sence, the ground just looks the same and the environments are too linear. Heroes 5 is just absurd, noone would build some stupid statue and corner stupid buildings around it on top - harpies perhaps, but not the rest, so not not only Heroes 5 looks more stupid than Heroes 4 - it insults me.
Heroes 3 most realistic environments and buildings suitable for dungeon..
As for music - Heroes 4 really great stuff in all towns!
