Starcraft 2!
They could just throw in LAN capabilities, just for good measure. Would it really be a pain for them to do? Some people may use it. It should be an option me thinks.Shyranis wrote:I know people that are angry about the lack of LAN play in it. I'm not sure if I'd pick it up either if I have to wind up buying 3 copies of it.

For online play to work they need to already have LAN code... and the battle reports are probably not done online either... so it takes more effort to remove LAN then have it, so no, it's not a pain at all.

I agree this is probably the case. They are intentionally removing LAN capability.ThunderTitan wrote:For online play to work they need to already have LAN code... and the battle reports are probably not done online either... so it takes more effort to remove LAN then have it, so no, it's not a pain at all.
This is a far cry from the original Starcraft, where you could host a bunch of friends at a LAN party using one CD (via "Spawn" installs). Ahh, those were the days.
That was back before Blizzard was huge and they still called their demos "Shareware".AngelEyes wrote:I agree this is probably the case. Eh, everyone called demos shareware back then...
Of course as someone pointed out in the blizz forums, this has all happened before and will happen again: http://web.archive.org/web/199712241910 ... ents/1.htm
