Didn't i already quote Will Wright saying he dumbed it down?1 And i bet most of the people you know are gamers... who don't need it dumbed down...

and numbers of copy sold mean everything, and critical reception means nothing, because this isn't art where all that matters is that 1 guy thinks it's good enough to pay you millions for it...

But really, from what i played it's not that much more boring the The Sims... which is pretty boring in itself though...

But at least Spore had an interesting idea behind it and will hopefully lead to better stuff... the Sims just proves you can make money with endless and mediocre expansions....

Thanks! I think I'll go with that one. :)

@TT: It's not like the Sims was created for the target group you're in, and have you even played it for more than an hour?!
I happen to think it's a very fun game, and obviously millions of other people do too.
I too have sometimes thought about what a giant money machine the Sims 2 is BUT not once, and I have bought many expansions for the Sims2, have I been disappointed, found flaws or felt ripped off.

low expectations FTW... (well ok, sims 2 seems to have better expansions then sims 1 where it was all "here's some new titlesets" and other BS, but i'm still pissed by Sims 1... )

The worst thing about The Sims 1 was that they each expansions introduced problems of its own. The developer lost control like if they accidentally dropped an ingredient in a recipe and tried to save it by adding more stuff over it. I never played The Sims 2 myself so I can't say if they improved things.

They did. A lot ;)

I played the first Sims game for a long time, however I often got really annoyed with it because of all its flaws. With the Sims 2 though, I have never been pushed to that edge. Imo, it has no flaws :D

Been playing retro games lately and found SC2000 deluxe edition and it's compatible for XP and Vista w/o needing all the other stuff to convert the game from DOS. Found it for free btw. Just search for it on Google if you want it. I found it on Rapidshare, I think. There are other abandonware sites that have it nowadays.
I'v always liked the game. I never found it boring. Not easy managing a city. I never keep the disasters box constantly checked. Sometimes I experience a tidal wave of disasters and my comp crashes. It's done it several times. I check the disasters "On" when I'm comfortable with where I am, then once a disater happens, I switch it "Off" and deal with the situation at hand. I found the game plays much better this way.
And AS: You must've been thinking the add on of the college for SC3000, because I could'nt find it or any other add on for 2000.
