Well, for starters, it's 4-5 hours of walking around in nature. Golf courses are generally well-maintained places with trees, flowers, birds, etc. Golf is a quiet, peaceful game - you're in your own little world with no worries and nothing but the game itself to think about. It's a game for honorable people - you're required to call all penalties on yourself. No referees. And finally, golf has elements of strategy. You often have to think one or two shots ahead to decide which club to use and where to hit the ball.
Peace. Love. Penguin.

Sad thing coming up:
There's this old man in town, who's been taking walks with his wife every day after dinner, the same time, same route every time - as long as the weather was fair. If you drove past the route at that time, you'd be sure to see them walking.
His wife died a couple of years ago...
The guy still take walks, however... same route, same time, every day... I drove along the road today and saw him walk alone. I guess in one sense... he really isn't alone.
