welcome to post a map/template on which angel week 1 is not possible on 130%

i shall assume archers are prebuilt
How about Crimson and Clover? I shall also assume the other players are all competent, human intelligence.

Lol, and you come up with a small, open map?!
Don't you call that stupid?

Well, I renamed the 3-Aug-03EXTREME%20II.txt in Rmg.txt, put it in the data folder and started Heroes. New random map but no maps available. I guess it overrides all other templates which is nice but still something is wrong...::(

Make sure you setup the map well (no water, no under, number of players, etc... follow anything you are tiold to in the readme file)

also make sure you download the file properly
sometimes you would like to open the rmg file in excel and resave it
you may observe how it works in excel too, it's kinda basic
on the heroes community there are some threads explaining how it all works

Ok, thank you, it was the starting correct setup I had to choose :)

Now, I had an unpleasant surprise with my castle nearly blocked from all parts except one and a swanmill on the other side at 3 days walk :( The monsters are very strong too, I'll have to deal with it. I will try with a gold specialist or an estate hero as starting and hope for a good main next...

As in a map where you can't get angels in week one? :)
Far too many people speak their minds without first verifying the quality of their source material.

Ok, it was possible afterwards but I didn't do it. I was short of a little less than 3000 gold and 2 cristals. I will play more carefully next time :)

Nope, in that this whole discussion (and especially the one about offline testing) is completely pointless regarding very small, very badly built open maps...

BTW, I never I mean NEVER trust any of the official heroes2/3/4 maps. I refuse to play any of them.
Pac, care to share the saves/progress, etc? I am lazy to do it myself, but eager to watch :)

No problem, I played at work very quickly so the saves are there but I'll try another random one at home and hope to play better. The problem is to find relatively quickly the important mines and the gold to hire a second hero, ressources and hire the maximum heroes but still be able to build when possible. I like the random aspect of those templates, every game is different :). I had view earth in my first game but couldn't know if thy were defended. If only I could have found the Necro castle before :)

edit: played a new game just now, recruited only 7 heroes, played very carellesly, I'm sure a good ToH player would have had a level 10 main after 2 weeks but I played only for the goal. Still I had much chance because of a trading post at 3 days from the castle but on the other hand the path to the upper side (and second castle was blocked by a horde of pit lords). It's a pity you cannot see the defenders of a crypt before attacking, I din't want to take risks. Also I had the chance to recruit Luna who is excellent with her fire wall (she can kill almost any kind of average walkers or fliers). Well, I have the saves but nothing of real interest. At day 15 you can start with 3 angels and begin the real fights:). I didn't chain or anything particular, just collect ressources, some specific fights and build capitol + angels on 2nd week.

I'll try other templates (the difference can be great betweem 2 templates of course :) )

Hehe, yes sometimes I walked step by step to discover the fog but as soon as I saw a ressource to grab I jumped :). It's not the way to play in online competition but for fun it's not a problem :) Well, here there is no reload so the errors have to be paid ;)

Thing is I can only get myself to play h3 step by step. I play for 30 mins, that's maybe a turn or too, then I logout...

And so I have met your challenge and passed it, and you, for all your much-vaunted skills at Heroes, are wrong.

Anyway we ARE far off topic, and I wonder how to get about returning to it.

No you haven't met any challange. Of course angels week 1 is easy on Clover too. It's simply not so relevant, because a game on that map is not about this...

Sorry, I won't play that map, however; for example, I don't feel like downloading such a bad map.

And btw, even if you found a map that would be like that, it still wouldn't prove anything.
What the **** do you want to prove? That it is possible to create a map on which building angels week 1 is not possible on 130%?

Here are some ideas:

1) a map with two castles, where all the dwellings are already built. You can't build angel dwelling at all.

2) any map, where castle is disabled.

3) any map, where all level 7 dwellings are disabled

4) a map with two towns, a looooooooooong road between them and absolutely nothing else between them (no creatures, no banks, no mines, no resources)

5) a map where you don't start with a fort and your resources are drained (script) day 1 (it also has to be a bit poor to be sure)

6) a map where mines exist, but no resources anywhere

7) a map where you are blocked into your castle by throng of mighty gorgons

8) a map where there ARE resources, mines, and banks, but all are guarded by sizable amounts of level 5-7 creatures

9) a map where opponents start at most 2-3 days walk from each other without a sizable stack blocking them off each other

10) a map where you are forced to fight your opponent by day 4 and a script finishes the game then

Dunno about you, but I don't wanna play any of those maps, they must be boring...

and I have listed almost all the possible maps where angels are impossible on 130%...

Prove you can do it on Crimson and Clover.

What am I trying to prove? I don't know. Probably to prove that you CAN be wrong, and this time you are. :D

That is the thing, you assume that everybody likes exactly the same type of challenge than you.

The map comes with Heroes 3. If you have the disk, then surely you should have the map?
