Man I appreciate your honestyMetathron wrote:Just saw Bloodrayne by the infamous Uwe Boll. I gotta say it's not half as bad as I expected, and definitely not deserving of being in the IMDB's Bottom 100.

All humans do is to go to a place, bountiful of nature, and live there. Then the human multiplies and sucks all the wonders there. They move to the next. There is one thing that works the same way as that: a virus.

On that note I had watched Merlin and the war of dragons, now THAT was a bad movie. If you could watch all the movie with a straight face it would be a feat. Then again what to expect from a movie with that name

Some guys should be deprived of their directing license.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

Alien is boring ![:P :P](/forums/images/smilies/p.gif)
Classics are boring. Why is it that people always keep on claiming classics are "da best"?![:P :P](/forums/images/smilies/p.gif)

Movies that become classics have something special in them, they're not just made to entertain or to make money for the producers. Usually they have a combination of a good script, good acting performances and a well thought-out plot; music and graphics are close to follow.
I'm good at this. Name a classic for me, and I will tell you why it's a classic. Name something else, and I will tell you why it's not.![sunglasses B-)](/forums/images/smilies/coolsunglasses.gif)

My expectations were based on what I had previously read about this director and the many comments on the imdb boards that dubbed this movie as one of the worst or the worst in history. There is a lot of drama and "outrage" in their comments, most of them come off as immature brats waiting for their chin pubes to emerge.Elvin wrote:Wow your expectations must have been abysmal..Metathron wrote:Just saw Bloodrayne by the infamous Uwe Boll. As for crappiness, yes I think I have seen a lot of that, in the last month or so Prince Caspian comes to mind. Not that Bloodrayne quite escapes this category, but at least it kept me entertained, something PC attempted and fell flat on its back. Of course, crappy is still a far cry from actual disasters of the Meet the Spartans variety.
Jesus saves, Allah forgives, Cthulhu thinks you'd make a nice sandwich.
Alien had crappy music. There are so many cases of "good movie - good soundtrack" nonsense in so many comments on imdb, and not just classics btw. (I'm a soundtrack addict btw
)
What was so great about Alien's story? It's like most other flicks. Just because they aren't more original than Alien doesn't mean they are less entertaining or more crappy. If someone just made an Alien but with better effects & soundtrack, I don't care it's a ripoff, I would watch it over Alien any day![sunglasses B-)](/forums/images/smilies/coolsunglasses.gif)

I'm afraid you missed the point of the movie then. You know, our children will laugh at The Lord of the Rings 10-15 years from now, won't understand how we could tolerate such dated special effects and wonder who could have written such a plot.Borsuc wrote:If someone just made an Alien but with better effects & soundtrack
Isn't the plot already a lot older than the movie?Angelspit wrote:You know, our children will laugh at The Lord of the Rings 10-15 years from now, won't understand how we could tolerate such dated special effects and wonder who could have written such a plot.

No matter how powerful one becomes, there is always someone stronger. That's why I'm in a constant pursuit of power, so I can be prepared when an enemy tries to take advantage of me.
I didn't say it sucked completely, but it's not as great as others, even ripoffs, because while they may have the same stuff (it's a ripoff) at least it's done with better sound (somehow the worst thing I hate in old movies is the crappy sound). It wasn't even that scary compared to others (no, not stupid gorefests or splatters, I hate thoseAngelspit wrote:I'm afraid you missed the point of the movie then. I wouldn't mind a LOTR ripoff and consider it bad just because it's a ripoff. If anything, it's gonna replace the old LOTR

Also there are certain limits, we might reach long before that the point of diminishing returns (at least for classical movie styles, not "Matrix-style" movies which might be in the future where we take part

First blood was just on telly. Good movie, that. Unlike the sequels, it actually carries an important message.
