I would probably recommend to give that harddisk off.

Which is having two advantages:
* secure your data
* protect your ears and sanity

Sounds likely. You may try to reainstall the audio driver or look for some optimized one. (You know, special version of driver like are Omega, DNA or DHZer0point) If it's not a hardware the issue will stop to hassle.

lol, it works alright but it has some symptoms, for now :D

Yeah but it's the only one I have. I need to get that new system these days but I hope it lasts till then :beg: (I'm not sure if the loud beep came from the harddisk though).

The other 'high-pitched' and 'soft' beep somewhat disappears after some 10 minutes, weird, and it's somewhat soft (not loud).
All humans do is to go to a place, bountiful of nature, and live there. Then the human multiplies and sucks all the wonders there. They move to the next. There is one thing that works the same way as that: a virus.

Either hdd or psu. The probs are in favor for them.

And I know, this is however best method how you can make things sure. Just one warning. When you will get the new hdd, test it (hdtach, hdtune or utility from a vendor or some stress test). You know even completely new pc can be having some failing component. After that, move the data. :D

Yes I know new stuff can be broken, but at least new stuff doesn't have any data on it to lose on replacement :)

I plan on testing the memory modules too after purchasing them, I became paranoid. :D

As for the HDD, I did scan it some weeks ago, came out perfectly clean (with HD Tune), and the health tab says "ok" with green (100% ok, healthy, at least it's what it says).

Tell me about it. When I bought the previous graphic card, after 2 days it didn't work properly, so it was bought damaged. Same story with the Headphones. Thank God they were both under warranty.

I wanna ask...

Has anybody had probs with "svchost.exe" crashing all of a sudden with an error message "memory cannot be written"?

It's just some interesting virus, if I'm not mistaken. I have it in the hostel, and my room-mate said he saw such bugs in the library where he happens to be an administrator. He said that he couldn't google anything about such strange virus, but he did say that his AV noticed a lot of strange libraries being "#included" by the infected svchost.

So, may be it's something worldwide? Anyone had such troubles? This thing is spreading though our LAN in the hostel! :S

Oh God I hope not, I get those errors when I shut it down sometimes, and svchost makes some crap here and there as well. Scanned my whole comp with Kaspersky online, nothing resulted (that was some weeks ago but nonetheless it happened then as well).

I get some freaky "could not read at address " or "could not write at address " with Neverwinter Nights as well from time to time :|

I did a boot scan with Avast and nothing too... Damn...

Even if you try to paste a part of "infected" svchost in Google, you'll receive no useful info. That looks creepy... :S

Try tcpview and process manager to track it down. See if here's something interesting in the processes info.

Try to reinstall graphical driver, with little help of that > http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/

yesterday i accidentally kicked the table the pc is on and one of it's case openings fell of (didn't attach is well enough) and the PC froze like it does... i'm assuming something must not be attached right... what do u guys think?!

My main PC has gone all manky and I have to reinstall all my games and most other programs... :( some savegames were lost...
In War: Resolution, In Defeat: Defiance, In Victory: Magnanimity, In Peace: Goodwill.

Wait wait, you can probably install Windows on another Hard Disk if you have it and access the old one from there, copy the savegames and other data, etc.

Sure reinstalling will still be needed because of the Windows Registry... and that's one of the most annoying things for me to do when I re-install windows :disagree:

Err, that's either put into RAM precached or into the soundcard itself...
