Oh well, now that I already spent the 10 €, I guess I just have to go ahead and watch the movie (despite the low ratings). There's no way they're going to refund me simply 'cause it was a product under the tag "On Sale".
The good side to this story is that I have lovely company, my wife, to share the movie experience with, be it good or bad. Not to mention the almost mandatory popcorn, sodas and candy and chips and dip sauce I have in stock just waiting for me.
If the movie is indeed bad, I will ease the pain with
17& alc milk chocolate-mint liqueur called Cat Mint. This means that no matter what happens, I will win in the end anyway.

Don't worry if things are going badly today. They will be much worse tomorrow.
Saw Narnia: Prince Caspian. Very enjoyable, possibly more than the first one. I like how they beefed up the book's weak plot with a few more conflicts between the main characters. The failed attack on Miraz's castle was very well filmed and was very moving -- I immediately thought of one of those battles in Heroes that go wrong despite all your efforts.
Too bad the movie was not available in HD with my service provider. Even the surround sound was barely ok.

Oh come on, most people don't even know that .mp3 loses quality (and it does a lot more than what you said above) and they still say that "DVD surround sucks" when it is way better.Angelspit wrote:Too bad the movie was not available in HD with my service provider. But that's only because there is rarely an alternative (to the mp3s) so they're stuck.
In fact, with a few DSPs I get good quality even from 128kbps mp3s (albeit not exactly CD-quality but still, 192kbps sound good enough, and VBR 256+ sound almost flawless with the DSPs, no "flanging" effect). And those sound a lot worse than Dolby Surround, even when in stereo.
If you can't stand Dolby Surround, then it means all music on the web in .mp3 format hurts your ears, otherwise you are biased
mp3, further, sounds way better than YouTube (and I mean it, waaay better), so basically YouTube would suck so much that you it would even make you cry
All humans do is to go to a place, bountiful of nature, and live there. Then the human multiplies and sucks all the wonders there. They move to the next. There is one thing that works the same way as that: a virus.
I just meant that the surround effects were minimalist, which was a bit surprising for a movie of that genre. My back speakers were mostly quiet during all the movie. But the sound quality was flawless of course (I have a mid-range Onkyo receiver powering Paradigm Cinema speakers, so I can tell the difference with standard TV speakers). There was just a little spice missing.
But thanks for the audiophile lesson.

"Return of the Sith" was just on. It's the better of the new ones. Pussyboy Hayden Christensen does well when he turns evil.. I'm a bit miffed that Yoda didn't win the melee with Palpatine, but at least he got the better of him in the one-on-one darkside lightning struggle.
In War: Resolution, In Defeat: Defiance, In Victory: Magnanimity, In Peace: Goodwill.
I'm more miffed that Yoda (and nobody else for the matter) couldn't figure out by himself that Palpatine was Sideous... I'm not buying all that "cloaking" Lucas came up with (or however that's called). If you can't use the Force, use your brains for Pete's sake.Kalah wrote:I'm a bit miffed that Yoda didn't win the melee with Palpatine,...

Hard to see the dark side is. But I think we can safely assume that if Yoda has great powers that should enable him to detect the dark side, I think we can also assume that Palpatine has great powers to hide. Remember he usually had lackeys doing the work for him. Anyway, at least they made the point-of-view thing properly.
The one thing I really loved was when they put the helmet on Vader and he speaks with James Earl Jones' voice. Proper job for once.

Nah... maybe I'm too picky, but even that "powerful moment" was a bit flawed:
- Where is Padme? Is she safe?
- It seems in your anger, you killed her.
- I...? I couldn't have! She was alive... I felt it! Nooooooooooooooooo....
I found he bought that "you killed her" too easy...

Indeed, Z, you picked the weakest moment. But I liked the facial expressions Hayden was able to muster up in the process of turning evil. And I also liked Vader's first answer when Sidous asked if he could hear him. Jones' voice saying "Yes, master".
Thing is, when I first heard Hayden was picked to do the job, I went mental. I saw it as a ridiculous attempt to get some girls to come to the cinema. A pussyboy like that would be doing the love scenes with Portman like a soap opera star, and then he would surely be completely useless when it came to his big moment; the switch from good and confused to evil and angry. Turns out it was the other way around. I went to the bathroom in the middle of the touchy-feely bits, and enjoyed the Vader bit quite a lot.

I like "Return of the Sith" but I always felt like Anakin became evil too easily. I know he's been struggling for a while, but still, he just falls on his knees and abides the dark lord without any questions or thoughts onto how he could've been fooled so easily...
"Evil, you say? Well, alright, I'll be your evil minion forever!" No.
It's just weak to me. It doesn't feel believable

This minor magical charm captures the viewer's attention and distra... ooo, pretty...

The thing that was really lacking for me was the fight between Palpatine and Windu & his Jedi helpers. Those guys went down like flies, just standing there idly, waiting to be impaled. Jeez Louise.
But I loved the movie in spite of that (and other inadequacies), in fact it's tied with The Return of the Jedi, because my favourite character (DS) plays such a large role.

OMG, i dreamt my wife is gonna die... obviously the only way to save her is to take for granted a legend about immortality some old creepy guy that might be an evil Sith told me about and kill a bunch of kids... and then choke her for very little reason...
Then she decides that 2 kids aren't worth living for when i was mean to her, so she just stops trying to live (Lucas never heard of birth complications?).
Oh, and lets not forget to ruin the bad ass robot from the cartoons, because that actually managed to get ppls hopes up.

Especially when you're on the wrong side of 900 and refuse to wear glasses... i'm telling you, that's how the Sith won... horrible eye sight.Kalah wrote:Hard to see the dark side is.

They screwed up the transformation of maybe the greatest villain in the film history. Fuck you George Lucas!Milla aka. the Slayer wrote:I like "Return of the Sith" but I always felt like Anakin became evil too easily.
