King´s Bounty English Demo

Hmm, I downloaded the demo and installed it, but when I click the button to launch the game, nothing happens at all...No black screen or loading or anything...

I tried reinstalling it and redownloading it, but same thing. Anyone else having this problem?

first run - turn off dual screen ?

So, I click "OK", and it does... Absolutely nothing.
It justs close the window and doesn't launch the game.

Okay, problem solved : the game starts when I desactivate my dual screen. :/

The game now runs without desactivating my dual screen... Weird. But cool.

Are you using XP or Vista? On Vista I encountered a problem like this, with Heroes5 and UT3. I suppose it's because Vista has DX10 by default, but installed DX9 over it, and everything is okay since then. DirectX10 is still working, and I also have the necessary DirectX9 files.

I meant the FILE itself looked Smaller in total data than the next day when i re downloaded it...THE BIG TRICK really is to update your DIRECTX version and it will give you that dxd file...check your directx in XP by using the RUN prompt and type in DXDIAG ...the tool will come up..-

Tried it today... fun game!

Not a fan of the cooldowns though... I wouldn't want them in Heroes.

Hmm changed my mind. I actually like the cooldown concept for units. Perhaps Heroes should adopt it.

I like this game-- has a nostalgic feel to it. I find the UI to be great, but the game feels a little "stiff" in operation to me, but maybe I just have to get used to the controls.

Am I the only one who has a problem with the demo crashing to the desktop after running for anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes?

Loving the demo, dont like not to be able to pan around the map and see where I need to go and be able to click there to move. Minor gripe though. Im almost at level 5 and defeated most enemies. Do not know where the marshan swap is (if it is available in the demo, not sure). But overall looks a great game.

Guarderman, I tried doing what you did and this message came up in the process of unzipping the DirectX file.

"Cannot create d3dx9_33.dl"

"Access denied"

Marshan Swamp and a few other quest locations are outside the demo map... you can see these locations on the enlarged map.

All 3 heroes should be able to get to level 5 in the demo, but not 6.

Navigating the map and panning around could definitely use some improvement, but the game is a fun single player experience and reflects the spirit and quaintness of the original King's Bounty. I'll certainly buy it when released.

Before I was a little dubious about it, but having played the demo a couple of times now it seems pretty good. The Rage of Spirits ability is quite different, and the cooldown for some abilities is alright once you get used to it.
