You asked for my favorite, not for the best.

But seriously, they're a very cheap unit and give the Stronghold what it needs -- a ranged attacker in the early game.
Odd. When I play Stronghold it's a flat-out race for Thunderbirds, with which I destroy neutrals. Orcs never come into the equation.
That's because you're better at H3 than I am. :)

More and more, though, I've found that a nice stack of ranged units does more for keeping my troops alive than a relatively expensive stack of higher level units that still have to get involved in melee anyway..
Far too many people speak their minds without first verifying the quality of their source material.

Nah :D You are better than I am. You can play Fortress, remember? I can't.

Anyway the point with Thunderbirds is to kill in one hit. They can get involved in melee - let them, since the main target is to deal so much damage that the attacked creature dies at once (not too difficult with Stronghold's attack skill) or to kill so many that the retaliation is negligible. I find it quite achievable. Thunderbirds also move fast - used alone, Stronghold gains a movement advantage that only Inferno can supersede (early game, that is).

Then why didn't YOU vote for them?
Because elves are better and the ice elemental is my 4th choice :D
Wait, 4th favorite, 4th, out of nine? And you expect people to vote for them? Err..

OMG just drop it! I dont expect anything, each of the those creatures have their own uses but the elves seems to best in any situation. I just got surprised that noone had the Ice elements as 1st favorite, each have their own taste you see, who knows there may be people who have the ices as nr.1 not saying that they sucks.

Well at least I'm not the only one who thinks griffins rule! :)

I like the griffins the most. They really look royal and noble and are fast and furious flyers. The elves come in second.

Nucleon's favorite third level creatures are AB's Nomads (Yep; That "Other" vote in there, that's Him).

They are noble, magnificient troops, sturdy as Stone Golems, fast, and mean. A Bless spell does them wonders. They are the undisputed kings of sand terrain. Nucleon likes them to the point that He made a map especially for them.

Second best are, of course, Elves, and Dragon flies, and Griffins, and Cerberi, and Evil eyes....

Man, they're almost all quite good. But for Nucleon, Nomads.

So the Nomads are lvl 3? Wont doubt that, they are sturdy enough to earn that lvl ;)

I voted elves, double shot is just so very good.

I would have voted griffins if they hadn't changed castles from Heroes II

I, personally, would have to say Wights/Wraiths...They don't have the biggest impact out of all level 3 creatures, but the flying and spell-draining helps alot.

Another vote for Grand Elves. A fast ranged unit. The double shot is gravy.

voted Dragon Fly! after patching them up in AB expansion, they were really great supportive. With both weakness and dispel-beneficial.

I voted for dragon flies because of their speed and weakness/dispel abilities. They are really handy for soaking up retaliations if you split them into stacks of 1.

My next favorite is cerberi, because any unit with no retal is great in my book. Too bad their damage range is so huge. Bless is a must have for inferno, but they can't learn it in their mage guild.

Grand elves seem to be the clear cut favorite, but they die too fast for my taste, making them much less useful.

I've read quite a few times that many people like the wraiths spell draining, but I don't see why draining 2 spell points per round is such a big deal. Even splitting them into stacks seems like a waste of space for other units. Is there something I'm missing?
