Which is it and why?

I choose you Vampirism, need you ask why life drain and iirc correctly it gives you the undead ability meaning immunity to some of the best dark spells.

No phoenix? Anyway I'd go for puppet master, does not take into account stack size and even if you have low spellpower you can hit the controlled unit with no retaliation. With high spellpower it's something else :)

Other favourites are armageddon because in 1v1 it can give you the victory if used correctly, vampirism not because of drain but also mind immunity and resurrection.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

If it was in it would be in my top 3. Excellent spell that helps a lot early.

Agree w/ Vampirism. I would select Armageddon if Warlocks could cast it w/o hurting their black dragons, but sadly, they can't. :(

My vote would go with Summon Pheonix, if it could.

I couldn't have completed the final mission where Inferno is constantly summoning random creatures without Puppet Master. Because it's a level 5 spell it typically takes a bit of time to cast the spell and by that time both sides are getting more and more powerful. Taking over their best creature stack and turning it into yours can really change the tide of a battle.

Since most of the time I have Dark Magic I'm Necro I guess I'm biased, but when I have it available my units already have the undead ability, which is incredibly valuable, and I need to spam Raise Dead to bring them back with or without Vampirism.

So I'm not sure how much this really counts, but I gotta go with Puppet Master.

My list would have to be, in order of best to least:

1. Puppet Master (kill your enemy with your enemy.. No retaliation.. Cast it on an treant and the enemy's other creature can't escape, effectively taking out two enemy creatures with one spell - then cast Frenzy on the creature stuck with the treant :D ..)
2. Vampirism (all undead abilities + life drain = incredible. Even on creatures that are already undead. It's godlike on creatures with incorporeal ability)
3. Implosion (no need to explain)
4. Armageddon (lots of different tactics can make this spell your trump card)
5. Summon Phoenix (should be added to the list)
6. Arcane Armor (If you have this AND Summon Phoenix it's great. Otherwise, it's still really good. Both Summon Phoenix and Arcane Armor do exactly what you want from Summoning Magic, namely relieving pressure from your own creatures to the summoned ones or the Arcane Armor).
7. Resurrection (it's good, but in alot of situations other strategies are more rewarding. Nice for cutting your losses in meaningless fights)
8. Curse of the Netherworld (there's no artifact that makes your creatures immune to this spell, but there is one against WoL)
9. Word of Light (On the other hand, WoL also works on Stronghold)
10. Deep Freeze (Wait, this is a level 5 spell..? I always thought Circle of Winter was better? What gives?)

Don't take Elemental Vision and your Black Dragons won't get hurt. Don't see the problem here.. Besides, Armageddon still works for Academy and Fortress.

1.Puppet Master - this one helped me defeat 20K Matrons somewhere in the month 4 :D The power of this spell is simply unlimited.

2.Vampirism - Winning all the battles flawlessly is more than good. For only ten mana?...

3.Deep Freeze - the only destructive spell which is effective against really masive neutrals, It's so nice to take down 200+ Green Dragons befere they reach my ranks :]

Puppet master. It's so powerful that everytime you cast it, a baby kitten dies.

Armageddon for a close 2nd just because you can cheese it up with wizards or runemages.

Puppet Master, no further discussion on that one. Opposite to 3/5 of that list this is a spell that really changes the tides in a battle. Besides, there is no pleasure compared to that of taking over a mighty stack of melees and raping that well bred ranged stack waiting impatiently for their turn nearby.

Ohhhh... sweet.

what has elemental vision got to do with anything?
it's the warlock's main skill (irresistable magic) that hurts the black dragons....
