What, commies with socialized services?! No way...
and Castro was smart enough to know that he's dead and if he doesn't pass on the power already it's all gonna go to heck after he's gone.

The weird thing in this case, that Castro's dictatorship wasn't ended from outside (at least visibly not), and his brother shares some of Fidel's ideas, so there will be a controlled intermediate stage in the globalisation of Cuba.

What I mean is, isn't it bizarre, that a communist country like Cuba has a better working health system than the US EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE BASICALLY UNABLE TO BUY MEDICAL STUFF FROM THE US, even after the boycott against them was lifted? Even though their docs aren't paid well?
Isn't it bizarre that 2% of all the Cuba tourists are MEDICAL tourists? I mean, the US are only a couple miles away - what makes people, even rich and famous people, deliver themselves into the clutches of the evil commies, trusting them with their health?
If you ask me, this clearly is speaking volumes about OUR health system in the oh so free and capitalist world. It's a testimony of a gigantic failure.

Don't forget, that the communism as a whole, was a good idea, only failed when putting in practice. Some parts of communism may still work well in reality, despite, the system as a whole is undoubtedly wrong.

it's only bizarre if you've been indoctrinated with apple pie and capitalism... dumping money into something won't ever fix it on it's own...
also, the ruskies got into space before the US while working with less, so it shouldn't surprise anyone either...
@Muszka
Marx just had this idiotic idea about the dictatorship of the proletariat... which was correctly predicted by another communist as not something the people in charge would ever let go of, as is with all dictatorships... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Bakunin

I read somewere a couple of years ago a funny fact about US and USSR 'Space War'ThunderTitan wrote:also, the ruskies got into space before the US while working with less, so it shouldn't surprise anyone either...
the US discovered, that they are not able to use whatever pen in the space. Now they invested about 1billon $ during a few years period in the development of a pen, that could write under water, in space, at the peak of mountains, at very high and very low temperatures, and some more amazing stuff.
Ruskies used graphit pencil.
As for Marx... (as much as I care for him or for his ideas,) I don't see any brightness in him or in his ideas.

It's not a "fact", it's a myth. In reality, both the Russians and the Americans used pencils. Also, the zero-gravity pen was not developed by the space program; it was invented independently. A funny fact, however, is that a normal ball point pen will work in outer space...
Read about the whole thing here.

You know, it's kind of funny that you bring up ballpoint pens; I'm doing a report on them for one of my classes.Kalah wrote:It's not a "fact", it's a myth. My mistake. Good to know the truth.Kalah wrote:It's not a "fact", it's a myth. In reality, both the Russians and the Americans used pencils.
