Play the Campaigns With Your Toe!

Or maybe you're so good at Heroes that you can beat the computer with any of your body parts. Which brings very disturbing mental images, but enough about that.

The always reliable sfidanza completed his mod that lets you play the original Heroes of Might and Magic V and Hammers of Fate campaigns in the Tribes of the East expansion. I am not sure why anyone would want to go a second time through the convoluted, over-the-top storyline, but some of the original maps might be more interesting with the new expansion's features. TotE is standalone, so some of its owners did not play original campaigns.

However dismal the storyline, a few of the maps were clever and I wouldn't mind seeing some of them a second time after I've different choices in character development.

I didn't like having to load HoMM V vanilla jusst to play the campaigns after I'd just installed HoMM V HoF (I got them together) it was very annoying having the expansion installed but not being able to play the older campaigns (as in HoMM IV) It would have been a small feature to add...

And now you need only one skill wheel for all campaigns

I must admit all campaigns get a little easier with this since alternative upgrades can somewhat disturb the balance (crossbowman, seducers).

I didn't really finish the campaigns from the first 2 games, so it'll be interesting to go back and do them again with the alternate upgrades as an option now.

Ubi's job actually get in here and say that this mod is illigal. Campaigns was the only thing that could make people buy original game or *precious metal* edition.

Mods keep games alive.

I am not playing H5, because it would mean installing 3 games, 5 patches and 7 mods.

So any mod that is reducing the number of instals I have to perform, brings the game closer to being considered for giving it a(nother) try. And that's sth even Ubival should be thankful to.

You only need Tribes of the East to play Heroes5. Of course, in this case you won't be able to play with the original and HoF campaigns, but you won't loose too much.

As a matter of fact Sfidanza made sure to attain Ubi's permission to release these before he started work. They would have been made available sooner if Ubi hadn't requested he wait until January beforehand.

Has anyone been able to get this to work?

I have copied the files into UserMods, but still only get ToE campaigns.

Tried unpacking them - same thing.
