Heroes 2 multiplayer

I haven't found a similar topic, and here is my question:

I want to play Heroes of might and magic 2 (gold) online against my girlfriend, but the game wants a telephone number for those old modems. Is there any other way to connect and play? perhaps another program that connects to the other player?

thanks, I tried it before, but only managed to come to a point, when the game says "error sending data" and don't know what to do next. And we (me and my girlfriend) both tried to host and once to run the game in compatibility for windows 95 mode. Oh yes, we both use windows XP, service pack 2. Help!

I can't help you with this, because I never had such problems. My only problem is constant multiplayer game crashing (grobblewobble knows, we tried to play together using hamachi, but the game kept crashing and we were unable to fix it)

ah well, too bad then thanks anyway, I'll try to find a solution (and by that I don't mean installing homm 3 or another heroes game ).

With Hamachi, I believe a PoL player can't host a game against a player who lacks PoL.

well actually we both have heroes of m&m 2 gold, so that doesn't seem to be the problem...

yes of course even though I'm mesmerized how noone so far had questions about Heroes 2 multiplayer. As far as I am concerned I still like heroes 2 the best even though I bought all other heroes as well
